That's like 60% of BotW's lifetime sales in 3 months.

Although assuming the Switch 2 rumors are real this time I don't think Switch is going to catch PS2 or DS before the end of its lifespan

I'll pick it up eventually...I played BotW kinda wrong and got burnt out lol. Still have to beat it.

We will probably have a good answer after the next Christmas period.

I think if we assume Holiday 2024 for the Switch 2 the Switch will definitely be in that DS/PS2 area though whether it passes them is hard to say. It is probably looking at about 150 million by the end of 2024 but how much further it goes is anybodys guess.

It depends on when the Switch "2" is releasing and how it's even being positioned. I still think there's a solid chance it'll be akin to a GameBoy Color, where it's still counted as being part of the Switch family.

BotW's at 32.65M, so not quite, but yeah it's probably gonna get fairly close to closing the gap, and it's already outsold the next 2 best-selling Zeldas combined (assuming you don't combine OoT and 3DS).

The real question is how much the Switch can continue to sell after the Switch 2 comes out. The PS2 was only at 110 million when the PS3 came out, insanely enough, and reached 158M shortly before the PS4 came out. I think Switch 1 gets to at least 145 million by next fall.

I don't think there's any chance of this, though the GBC was kind of massively more powerful than the GB.

The PS3 also had a pretty bad start to it.

Even more impressive when you consider the 360 had an extra year of sales before the PS3 came out. PS3 would've quickly taken the lead if they'd been released at the same time, haha.

3DS also had a slow start. It definitely does something.

We actually dont have final 360 sales so its unclear which sold more in the end. 360 was still ahead when they stopped publishing data so Id say its highly likely that the 360 outsold the PS3, they did wind up comparable though. Of course the PS3 was a massive net loss so it is definitely one of the highest selling failures ever.
