The rebels are racist, the Imperials tried to kill you for no reason. Seriously, fuck that Captain at the execution who is told you basically are just some random person accidently caught up in things, and she is like "whatever. They die"

Basically unless you are playing a Nord Supremacist, there isn't a good side to pick. I hope that if Elder Scrolls 6 has some kind of war where you can pick sides, that there are better options

Well I'd like it if the rebels weren't racist and if the Imperials didn't try to have you executed at the beginning. Make things neutral and either choice is fine and makes sense

Honestly thats always been the case in Elder Scrolls games even as early as Daggerfall and Morrowind. The choice of who to side with is always a moral dilemma, for better or for worse.

They didn't want there to be a clear "correct" answer.

Unfortunately, the mere fact the imperials were trying to have you killed before you even get proper control of your character ended up swaying most players in the other direction.

Stormcloaks are doing the right thing for the wrong reasons.

While a lot of Stormcloaks are racist as fuck? Not all are such as most importantly? Ulfric. That's at least a tiny bit of solace. But yes, both factions suck.

The Empire can at least push the Thalmor back given enough time to set everything up.

Maybe they could have had you start in camp or cave owned by giants. You got captured. Also captured is a rebel and an imperial soldier. The other 2 bicker at each other while you escape, whi h is how you find out there is a war going on. And then you can decide who to side with later after you escape the giants

As a Dragonborn and the de facto leader of the Blades, I want to decide that we are only going to hunt bad dragons.

That's not even a choice. You just never talk to the blades again after bringing them to their hole in the wall.

Well yea, if you mean the guilds. But I'm referring to the Civil War. You can pick a side in that and influence who wins.
