I second them making a sequal. They have the pokemon tcg game for mobile. They should just release that on switch and give it a single player campaign.

You can get lots of cards from old sets by playing and then power them up with items you grind for (old sets have weaker cards than today)

Of course if you want the newest pokemon card release you can do that too, but you will have to buy them.

Idk i could see a new TCG being successful.

They brought back Pokemon Snap after 20+ years. How did that game sell?

TCG has expanded so much that I can't see them making a video game around how it is nowadays without it feeling like a rushed, incomplete mess... which would actually be pretty on-brand for the series nowadays, so sure, go for it, I guess.

I think it could work if they built it around sets. Say the game has the typical goal of beating 8 Gym leaders, this would be where the base set comes in. Meanwhile there's a B story where you also take down Team Rocket (maybe Giovanni and 7 Lieutenants or something) and that would supply those cards. Could even throw in Fossil with some big excavation site and everyone is competing for first dibs on all the new discoveries.

I think the first two would probably make enough of a game for a start though if you sprinkle in some sidequests and special boss fights and things.
