Okay, I get it. You know how to explain quantum mechanics, but that doesn't make my knowledge of other subjects any less credible than you. I always get that feeling of superiority oozing from higher level academic types, especially consistent with people pursuing physics. It's just not one instance this has occurred. Is there some kind of echo chambered secret society where big brain physicists congregate and look down on every subject known to mankind? It's scarring to the point where I specifically avoid academic types simply because I always feel ridiculed in terms of intelligence. I know CE has a lot of CS and business oriented people, so I come here asking if you've experienced anything similar? I've heard cases where a lot of physics major transition into finance type jobs, so I'm concerned that I'll eventually be working with someone that thinks they know everything...because you know...physics. Ugh I hate it.

Nah, I have good experience with physics majors. The worst have always been the political science guys.

Ive always found the worst to be law grads/students who look down on everybody else even though their degree is vocational.

Really? Come to think of it, I've never encountered a political science person. I guess I've been lucky in that sense.

They kind of should. There is a certain underground theory; in physics that could allow someone to become what is pretty much G-D of the earth and it's environment......But anyways doesn't mean you coudn't
do it too if you work hard enough.

As a chemistry major, I never really noticed this to be true. I was friends with plenty of physics majors.

We all definitely looked down in biology majors, though, lol.

Wait, this concerns me as the field I'm going into is saturated with business majors. What is it about business majors that makes them snobby? I don't feel anything special just because I know made up social sciences *cough economics* that are pretty much ruled by oligarchs.

Business majors

Are you kidding? I went to a university that includes one of the world's top business schools and EVERYBODY looked down on business majors. They had the easiest classes, worst grade inflation, and whined more about any math past arithmetic than even psych majors. The only reason they had any self-respect was that they were too busy obliviously congratulating themselves and pricing BMWs. The only ones who got any respect were dual-degree business/engineers, and they were the first to admit that it was their business classes that saved their GPAs.

I graduated with a Bachelor's in Physics and that wasn't my experience at all. The engineers can be pretty snobby, but the physics majors were almost all approachable, if not a little quirky.

I cant think of any major that was specifically snobby.

High level Math and Physics majors I met were always quiet people. Unless you brought up physics or math, then they were pretty engaged. Not in an annoying or condescending way, more like a kid excited to show you something they made.
