No enriched uranium pretty much explodes if you look at it funny. You have to go out of your way to make it not explode.

Not in the quantities and shape present in any semi-recent bomb. This would've been a bit closer to the truth for the Hiroshima bomb or other ones around the same era based on its design; not so for the Nagasaki bomb or any based on that design (which is all of them these days, albeit with further refinements that make it even less likely to unintentionally explode), even if they use uranium rather than plutonium.
