Edit: oh I'm slow it "crashing " is the official story I guess... I saw the video of it getting shot down before seeing this.

It says something about Russia that I could believe just about any narrative coming out of this crash.

Legitimate accident due to shitty Russian maintenance procedures and lack of proper parts? Sure. Putin offing him in a public way while giving himself just enough plausible deniability to not immediately be pinned with it? Wouldn't be the first time. Ukrainian special forces attack? Seems reasonable.

I'll be interested to hear what the Russian investigation "discovers", because that will be a highly reliable indicator of what didn't happen.

This is going to be interesting. It's blatantly clear that he was killed by the Russian regime, this can't possibly be a coincidence. I wonder how his group will react to this, whether they just continue business as usual, whether they revolt against Putin again, or whether they start kissing Putin's toes.

Who could have imagined that starting a mutiny then backing out at the last moment would lead to being assassinated! I'm SHOCKED by this move I never thought Putin would do such a thing.

That is the most confusing part of this, I don't understand why he backed out. Once he made a move he had to know Putin wasn't going to let him live, so either don't start it to begin with or stick with it to the end.

Iirc, he didn't plan very well and they kindly informed him that they had his family.

Russian propaganda is simple as dirt. They'll say it was a Ukrainian missle or a false flag.

His plan got leaked by western intelligence so he had to rush it, which gave his support in Kreml cold feet.
He could have kept pushing, but without support he was afraid that he would get backstabbed.
He knew that he was fucked no matter what he did, so he chose the option that saved most of his men.

It seems likely that he was expecting at least some of the Russian military to rally to his side; when none of them did, he didn't have the strength to force the issue and had to back down.

I found the whole putsch interesting - in particular, the Russian military's actions during it. They didn't join Prigozhin, but neither did they really make any attempt to stop him. The logistics centre at Rostov-on-Don was handed over without a fight, and none of the Russian military units in the area attacked or even attempted to intercept or harass Wagner, aside from one brief skirmish where the Wagnerites shot down a helicopter. Wagner's forces were allowed to approach Moscow unmolested, which suggests to me that there is little loyalty to Putin within their ranks; however, as mentioned, none of those military units pledged themselves to Prigozhin, meaning they didn't seem to trust him either. The military powers seemed content to just sit back and let the two of them fight it out until they could see who was the stronger.

That led to the awkward situation where Prigozhin couldn't complete his coup because he didn't have sufficient support, but Putin couldn't really punish him because he *also* didn't have sufficient support. So both of them had to do this awkward step-down while trying to save as much face as they could, then pretend the whole thing never happened.

Explosion on the plane is the likely cause according to officials. May have been an explosive device but may also have been a fuel issue, or some other cause.

As for why he and other highranked Wagners were on that plane...
He was supposed to have heard that Kreml planned to send 20.000 soldier to Africa, muscle out Wagner on their contracts.
So they hurried to their HQ in St. Petersburg in order to secure more contracts and recruit more soldiers.
They were supposed to have rented two airplanes and the second one turned around after the incident, which brings up some questions.
Why put their names on the passenger list to begin with? And if it was two planes, why put the name on the passenger list on the right plane?
Why fly at all? Why not drive incognito and put a body double on the plane?
Wagner soldiers seems ready to revenge their dead leader, so who knows how this will end.

Well, Kremlin is saying Putin had nothing to do with it...which means he most likely had something to do with it.

More than likely the Wagner chief died right after he turned on Putin. It just took this long for Putin and his allies to come up with something that wasn't a 'he fell out of a third story window' tale since nobody believes that story anymore is all.

The Russians know no one believes those stories - that's the entire point.

They *want* people to know that crossing Putin means you will die quickly and violently. They *want* you to know they were involved. The fact they bother with lying about it is intended to be a bit of a slap in the face - it's their way of saying, "Yeah, this is a transparent lie, but we don't respect you enough to come up with something more believable, so deal with it."

Impossible due to an Enemy Mine situation. It would be counter-productive to assassinate an enemy of your biggest enemy. As much as he was hated in Ukraine, he was more useful alive than dead.

Hunter-Biden had dealings with Ukrainian company. Before - USA kept saying they are not World Police. But as soon as Ukraine gets attacked - USA gets most of the world powers to unite to protect Ukraine (a.k.a. as HB's piggy-bank). I'd say - let's see what's on that laptop.
