Bought by the conglomerate/monopoly who owns Jimmy Johns. They say its peculiar for them to have two similar places. I imagine Subway isnt getting many customers with their unnecessary price hikes.

The only reason I used to think it was worth going to Subway (back in the 90s) was the cheap prices. I could get a footlong at Subway for the same price as a six inch at a good sub place. And they had these mini sandwiches on a kaiser roll that were ridiculously cheap, less than a dollar a sandwich IIRC.

When I look at current Subway prices I just laugh.

Whenever I feel like using one of those $6.99 coupons for a footlong it's usually the herb and cheese bread.

The last few times I went I got the garlic chicken: shredded chicken, bacon, garlic aioli sauce, which I'll usually balance out with a bit of sweet onion sauce.

Yeah seriously, 5 dollar footlongs was themonly reason that Subway got so popular in the mid 2000s. It really wasnt a big deal before that. They also used to have like, two footlongs for 11 dollars or something.

Now one footlong is that price lol

Man, I miss fire house subs. Haven't seen one of those since Alabama.

Subways are wildly inconsistent between locations and even just day to day.

A good one with good produce is fine.

Order online. As long as the coupon has an order code on it you can reuse that code every week until it expires. Stores also can't refuse to honor a coupon when you order online. They either accept it up front for the online order, or they don't get that online business.

like - subway commercials (pretty much any commercial back in the day) cast nobodys to be in them.

now subway has 7 big name professional athletes to pay in the millions to promote their brand. Which doesnt need that level of promotion.

these companies could save 100s of millions by slashing the marketing costs. Then reduce the cost and replace it with volume.

I always wondered about ads and stuff like that but apparently, somehow, they actually do see sales increases when they make and air ads that apparently make them worth it.

For reasons unknown, Subway still has a pretty high brand value.

It's 5th. In restaurants it's behind only McDonald's, Starbucks, KFC and Domino's. The fact that KFC and Domino's are also doing fantastic is mind blowing as well.

ordered online two locations using their bogo coupon. Coupon rejected at two locations. The franchise closest to my work has a sign that due to rising food costs no coupons physical or digital will be honored.
