shiki no uta is like real folk blues light. fantastic song (though not quite as good as TRFB) and a nothing-burger on the animation. i quite like hadaka no yuusha both music- and animation-wise but the art is hideous and shiki no uta is that good

daisanmaku isn't bad but this cruel angel's thesis one of the GOAT OPs, even if the show is garbage

Shiki no Uta's animation is trash, and the song's not good either. Hadaka no Yuusha combines a great song with fantastic animation. Easy choice here.

Yea, this is one where the ED just being a slideshow of static images really hurts it. Shiki no Uta as a song is perfectly fine but doesn't overcome the slideshow. I actually know pretty much nothing about Ranking of Kings despite the acclaim it's gotten since release, but the artstyle seems fun. I like the end half of the song especially.

I mean, what else can be said about A Cruel Angel's Thesis that hasn't been said before? Literal god-tier song and is a strong frontrunner for greatest song OP of all time. The OP itself is technically a mishmash of words and images, but in this case that actually pretty perfectly fits Evangelion and how the show is. Sorry God only knows Daisanmaku, I do really dig the beat switch in the song though for the end half!

Ousama Ranking has an odd but quite good looking artstyle that's shown off well in its OP. The Samurai Champloo video is not that interesting, and neither song strikes me that much.

I didn't really like the World God Only Knows song. The video is serviceable, and I find it hard to rate NGE's with how much of a classic it is, but the song stuck around as long as it has for a reason.

Had no clue Nujabes did the Samuria Champloo OP, but it's clear as day.

I've taken a bit of an interest in Vaundy as he's the latest hot sensation on the Jpop scene and it's a very good song. I've never seen Ousama Ranking, but the OP does seem to make a good job of showing the style and what the show could be about.

I'm always wary that some OPs might just lie, Darker than Black Season 2 did some serious lying.

The slideshow auto-loses in match one, but I was also legitimately enthralled by that Ranking of Kings OP. I don't know anything about it, but I'm really interested in watching it after seeing that.

In the second match... I'm probably one of the only people who thinks Cruel Angel's Thesis is lame. Or, that version of it is, at least. This is another song where I've been ruined by the vastly superior BanG Dream cover. Roselia gives the song so much more energy and intensity than the original version ever had. Even ignoring that, though, that OP for The World God Only Knows was really good. It also made me interested in watching the show.

Nujabes is awesome. Cruel Angel's Thesis is a good song and all, but it does feel pretty dated to me. God only knows was a great discovery, the harpsichord and synth parts were really cool.

I mostly just like what the keyboard adds in the Roselia version. In the first twelve seconds of both songs, I like the piano backing in the Roselia version way more than the backing singers in the original version. To me, the original feels flat and lifeless without it.
