Character is killed or seriously wounded and then the next shot is a loved one kind of stopping what they're doing and looking confused and worried out of nowhere. Maybe I'm embellishing but it's definitely a thing!

This is probably the closest. I don't believe there's a name for the specific death one, though there probably should be.

Might not be what you're looking for, but I've tried searching TVTropes for an article I know exists for the past ten minutes, but can't find it again now.

I believe it's mostly a Japanese (or more broadly Asian?) superstition, but having a photograph of a character crack the moment something life-threatening happens to them and someone, usually a family member, notices the crack, regardless of whether the death is final or not.

That's what came to mind when I saw this topic, but I can't find the relevant TVTropes page anymore.

I know Futoku no Guild recently parodied this. The MC takes a supposed-mortal blow, then in the next scene, two girls' blouses burst open, substituting the photo crack with popped buttons.
