My suggestion: run a 1 or 2 day play-in round with all the songs. Everyone gets 5 votes.

Otherwise I'd definitely be for the regular play-in round.

This is what I did for seeding in the Gen contests at the end and it was pretty solid

Yeah sorry for deciding so quickly there, I would've left it longer for all your opinions to come in but it just worked out far too neatly for me to not pick the users option. I'll sleep on it before I lock in the 64, in case something else pops up. If not, I'll get started on making the bracket tomorrow.

still going to say that doubles (aka. basically just a pure 1 auto-include) from users with no noms in could've been equally interesting, though i guess there were actually more people out than that so this was the cleanest method for sure. might've helped one of the fully unsupported doubles make it though, even if it wasn't mine i'd have honestly been as fine with that method. perhaps a bit unfair to those who *did* get one in this way to not get their favourite, but considering (as was mentioned) some people got 5 noms in and those with 1 already in at least don't have to deal with some of the top songs in the bracket i think it wouldn't have been a terrible option

speaking of the spoilered matter, try to not give the other people with only 1 nom in too hard a time in seeding lol. i'd be tempted to pit those with more than 1 song in the clump of 4s against each other, obviously with minimal same-nominator shenanigans but eh

I think the user idea is actually pretty damn fair

I'm against play-in and would rather it be decided today. The worse-off-nominators-getting-one-in-each system is good by me.

I'm OK with users who only get one song being able to swap that song with another they nominated and like more, but I don't know how others will feel about that idea.

mentioned on discord but main differences if it prioritised snubbed users' doubles instead is that my pachislot nom would be used instead of PxZ2 opening stage x3, metamorphosis would be used instead of last no. zero and isquen would get at least *something* in probably with rock force plague man (as is, was fully snubbed even from this list since they only had stuff at 2 votes...)

down side is that would put the total number of songs to pick at 10, so i'd say that the least controversial method would be for me to give up my pachislot nom for it since i think people would probably be bothered most by that getting in of that list

This is correct, there is currently no full Chill Penguin in the contest. Though it's apparently remixed into the water medley, which is in the contest. @MXCM just checking again which track you'd rather have, in case you only picked Great Battlers earlier assuming regular Chill Penguin was in.

This is the last choice to make before we finalise the 64. I've decided against using UF8's suggestion of prioritising the snubbed user's doubles as we also have several people with a single nomination at 4 who then might want their double chosen instead... but then there's others who supported their track at 4 that might not want to lose that track, and then we could just wind up with everybody's double automatically being in and I foresee all sorts of headaches! So we're sticking with the current system.

I'll begin working on the bracket tonight, once the last choice is confirmed. Aside from the top and bottom seeds, the seeding will be pretty arbitrary as 75% of the field is at exactly 4 noms lol.

i don't understand how it was even an issue anyway. didn't we just give those tracks... 2 nominations total? was the nomination field so wide that just having 2 nominations was enough to guarantee a track got in? because if so then yeah that seems like more of an issue with the nomination system to allow that. just like it would've been a loophole in the system here if any single person could singlehandedly be the cutoff-tiebreaker by waiting until the last 10 minutes.

I'm used to it with VGMC small showings and getting pity entries from last BOST, but at least I had 3 supports get in here, plus a number of ones I didn't support that I like. That ain't half-bad.

I'm feeling satisfied. I got twelve noms into the contest! Two of them were my own. I was a bit disappointed to see I was the only supporter of Star Force music, though. (I take it back about their soundtracks being top tier - but I still think they're excellent.) I'm especially happy that SSBU's Gravity and Dark Man stages made it. Primrose also defied the odds and went from a 1 (five days in) to qualifying for the bracket!! Mac even doubled my Gravity Beetle nom (thank you). I was expecting most of these to fall short, so I'm quite happy with this field.

we had low participation in noms that year, and your doubles (4 noms total!) ended up as one seeds >_>

(vgmc2 had much bigger problems than that anyway, the nomination period lasted forever and drove down votals hard)
