If I can fix aircraft in 120F weather in the desert without ill effect, maintaining a lawn in 90F shouldnt be too difficult.

As a homeowner the one task Ive always disliked is lawn care. Ive hated since I was a young kid and forced to take care of our lawn, grandparents lawn, elderly neighbors lawns and so on. I despise it.

Plus as a 2nd shifter my schedule makes it much harder except on my days off. And I have some of my own health issues that complicates it even more.

So 2 years ago I made the decision to just pay someone else to take care of my lawn. Best decision Ive ever made with my house. Its so freeing not having to worry about it at all.

Love living in a place where no one gives a shit about lawn care

This is why I mow as soon as it's light out.

Just take care of it before the heat of the day sets in. Doing it at 8am is considerably safer than 1pm.

I personally just do a quick pass with the mower and keep the flowers watered. I love my flowers. I dont really care for the lawn, but I dont need my HOA on my ass.

Sounds like your first mistake was living somewhere that has an HOA

This is why I want to live in an apartment and not a house: no outdoor space. I hate the outdoors. Fuck yards and yardwork.

An HOA shouldn't be able to demand you waste water on grass you don't care about.

If anything, as a country we shouldn't be wasting water on ornamental grass.

I don't water my lawn but all I got in reward for that laziness this year is a yard full of dead leaves already in August. So now I got a shitload more yard work to do.

You could just keep the leaves, they're essential for small insects and wildlife to survive the winter, get hidden by the snow, and come springtime they decompose into natural fertilizer so your lawn grows back healthier

People and many businesses have been watering all summer, even though we've had record-high rainfalls since June. It's absurd. Gotta love it when half of their automatic sprinklers are sprinkling the road.

I dont think they can. Especially because they dont pay the water bill, and drought ordinances take precedence over HOA bylaws.

I just cant let it grow to high. My neighbor hit a huge fine because his grass matured to the point that it started flowering lol. It was honestly my first time seeing that in 34 years and I thought it was pretty cool.

Made me go on a week long deep dive into how different grasses look with they flower.

Grass lawns are dumb. Go clover if you insist on doing a one-plant-type lawn. Still nice and green, AND you don't need to mow it.

Pretty much this.. hydrate, do the lawn maintenance early in the day or later when it's cooler. Yard work isn't exactly the most taxing thing you can be doing outside in the heat, it's just unpaid... unless it is paid cause it's your job.

It is hard not to get the impression this topic was inspired by being made to mow the lawn or something.

Grass lawns are so 20th century. Modern landscaping jobs are moving in more and more rocks, gravel, etc and it looks so much better.

Self imposed labor is something that I never understood. I like to spend my free time doing things that enrich my life.

Heat advisories coming in from every angle.
In a region that spends about Seven Months in Winter..those people.

I am a gardener, but I've backed off in that in this weather.

Heat stroke is a thing.
But Americans are not known for being health conscious so there is that.
