In an effort to be unique, Mortdecai starting Johnny Depp. I say this because I remember almost nothing about it except it sucked and I don't know why they needed and most expensive actor in Hollywood for this.

I remember seeing this movie "Broken City" that was so incoherent and poorly done that it felt confusing.

I said it isn't just complex. Like, that's not it's main issue. It's that it's unclear and dull.
Cause there're so many complex films that aren't confusing. For example Memento wasn't difficult to understand cause the plot was specific and the premise was too. You knew the scenes are in order, just going backwards so at least there is some concrete logic to it that you know how to follow. Tenet was just all over the place.

Tenet is pretty easy to get once you've seen it a second time. Which is actually a meta point in the movie.

Its well worth putting in the effort to figure out. It's a great movie.

What causes things to happen at all in the movie? The physics and causality of Tenet actually just doesn't make sense if you think about it for more than 5 seconds. Which is why they explicitly tell you to not think about it.

What causes things to happen at all in the movie?

The same thing that "causes" things to happen in real life. What we define as entropy.

They even explicitly using this term when referring to the time reversal. Its reversing entropy.

Now I know what you're thinking. "If every action is reversible in an inverse way to an action that has already happened, then that means there has to be a start point/end point at which the entropy and the reverse entropy spin out from"

And you're correct. That event is also detailed in the film. The movie is a puzzle. The very name of it gives away some element of it. Its brilliant once you figure out how it works.

The physics and causality of Tenet actually just doesn't make sense if you think about it for more than 5 seconds. Which is why they explicitly tell you to not think about it.

No, they make sense, but in a sci fi loosey goosey way like most sci fi movies. They tell you not to think about it because, if you aren't already familiar with the study of entropy, trying to work out how this works will take your mind directly off of the film and into irrelevancy, because the movie isn't a science textbook.

Its an action drama film that plays with the laws of physics to make for a cool premise. If you can accept in movies that a man can fly you can accept in this movie that they have devices that reverse entropy. Thats it.

How

To be fair Tenet is really complex. I'm surprised so many users are admitting to it. Most viewers struggle to follow the intricacies of the plot. There have been individuals that have watched the movie 5 times over and still don't understand what's going on. Most of the time they simply complain about the sound, I don't want to spoil anything but it has a very specific reason. It's okay to just say you didn't get it.

I still hadn't fully understood Inception, although I didn't find it interesting to begin with so I can't say I actually made any attempts to follow what was going on.
It feels like Nolan loves making scenes go really fast with really cool soundtrack as he has characters explain stuff and if you miss something, you're done. That just gets dull for me and I feel like I'm watching style over substance.

Predestination wasn't confusing to me at all, it was just pretty much a twist that I didn't see coming.

Things! I've seen it twice and I don't think I finished it either time knowing exactly what had happened. It's definitely the worst film I've ever seen.

I'd second that Predestination wasn't confusing. It had the twist, but it was all quite straightforward. Good film though.
