I never saw the anime but man the live action was amazing. I cant wait for season 2! It compelled me to sift through the anime and from what I saw, the anime pales in comparison. Ive watched the first 118 episodes. I absolutely loved the live action. It has renewed my interest in tackling watching 1000+ episodes. I want to know what happens next, without spoiling myself. Though I know things like Gear 5 cause internet.

This is a remarkable reception for something nobody had any expectations for. You can blame the Cowboy Bebop adaptation I guess, but before release the most you'd see was a begrudging compliment like "The sets look pretty good."
