Alexander Highwind Tycoon: This guy wins the prize for best name, at least. Based off his picture, he has a unique sense of style too

Dorgann Klauser: Dead dad of Bartz. That doesn't sound like much.

Enuo: The original evil! Sounds spooky, but also like it wouldn't do very well in SMFFFC

Gogo: As the only main party member yet to reach SMFFFC, Gogo could wind up being strong. However, the most compelling theory is that he's Adlai Stevenson, a guy best known for losing two Presidential elections. Therefore, Gogo is a loser.

Biggs and Wedge: Even in a hypothetical year of Biggses and Wedges, I think these two mooks would get instantly booted.

Banon: The rebel leader with crazy hair. Maybe he'd have a chance in SMFFFC if he joined the main party for real instead of being a tease.

?????: This awesome ghost would become an instant champion if not for the coward lefty saying he isnt eligible.

Cid Del Norte Marquez: Theres a good reason why Cid P is the only one from these early games to make it into SMFFFC. Banana Cid is lame as hell.

Arvis: The guy who rescued Terra at the beginning of the game. That isn't much of a character.

Duncan Harcourt: Sabin's mentor, meh.

Darill: Setzer's friend who is way, waaay cooler than Setzer himself. Why couldn't she have been the one to join the party? Alas, she doesn't get enough screentime to even be a joke entrant in SMFFFC.

Siegfried: This guy could become an awesome force in SMFFFC... or we could wind up with his lame imposter who gets insta-booted. Personally, I don't want to risk it.

Madeline: Terra's mom! I'm one of the few Terra fans, and not even I would save Madeline, not even during Year of Moms.

Humbaba: Am I the only one who thinks of Harambe every time I see this name? Yes? Okay, anyway. This monster is lame.

Deathgaze: Everybody hates having to search the entire map to find you, Deathgaze.

Vargas Harcourt: I always laugh at how detailed his sprite is compared to his peer and rival, Sabin. Other than that, Vargas doesn't have much going on.

Ramuh: Very few summons have done well in SMFFFC, and this would be no exception.

Yura and Valigarmanda: Same as Ramuh.

I think this happened to me once while I was on mobile data. Pretty sure I just submitted a feedback ticket somehow and it was reversed.

Thanks mnk, yeah that's what I did but like... "1 business day to review" and weekend rounds coming up, damn. Will be so relieved if/when this is reversed, guess I'll need to install a new browser dedicated just to browsing gamefaqs.

(I'm skipping VII for now because I havent played it and also because it has no less than eleven TVTropes subpages for characters, aw hell naw. Maybe another day)

Ward Zabac: If even Kiros can make it into SMFFFC, Ward has no excuse. People must really not care about him.

Ellone: I feel like her character needs too much context to do well in SMFFFC. I myself barely remember her role in the plot, and I think she was pretty important!

Julia Heartilly: I refuse to believe that anyone who finds Laguna attractive would do well in SMFFFC

Raine: Same problem as Julia

Xu: A close friend if Quistis. She was cool, she should've joined the party at some point instead of Irvine.

Nida: This guy apparently graduated with Squall, but I don't remember him at all.

Dr. Kadowaki: Only one doctor from VIII has a hope of doing anything in SMFFFC, and this ain't the one

Ma Dincht: If we ever have another Year of Moms, I'd support Ma Dincht over Julia at least.

Martine: This is the FF character with a name closest to our dear friend MartinFF7. Outside of some sort of meme run based on that, Martine has no hope.

Zone & Watts: I had forgotten how stupid their group name was. The Forest Owls, ugh.

Dr. Odine: This guy could potentially do well in SMFFFC based on his absurd costume alone.

The Queen of Cards: This girl could do big things in SMFFFC. Everyone loves Triple Triad!

Vinzer Deling: Absolutely nobody likes Deling. If anyone quotes this and says they do, that person is a liar.

Biggs & Wedge: These two goofs will never amount to anything. X-ATM is a much better SMFFFC entrant.

Sorceress Adel: If any sorceress is going to do well in SMFFFC, it will be Edea or Ultimecia, never Adel.

Remember that I'm only considering characters from the TVTropes character pages, and only ones who have never been in SMFFFC not even once. If you think any of those other jokers would make a bigger splash in the contest than my choices, feel free to mention it! Gigameth was clearly more popular than my choice in FFIII

Year of the MILFs.

Ward should get in just to get every main party member from the mainline games in, but he'll be an immediate boot like Kiros. I dunno that FFVIII is really lacking anybody else who could do well at this point.

FFVII should get in Tseng just so we can have all the Turks in, even though he'd probably get booted right away, too.

Ward is kind of a stretch as a main party member, especially since he misses 1 flashback and potentially misses another. I'd put him in the same level as Cinna and Marcus.

Nah, he's more important than that. He's the clear #3 of the Laguna, Kiros, and Ward trio, but it's still a trio. At the very least, he has his own Limit Break, which puts him above the Tantalus guys.

Well I think it's important to remember Jessie's game got a remake and none of these others have (or ever will in certain cases). We'd probably have to wait and see if 8, 9 or 10 get remakes in the future to start wondering if characters that haven't made a contest yet would really make any noise. Expanded screen time/story, voicing and updated models go a long way. The only other chance of strength is meme status or circumstance, such at Ktjn's success. It's not really something that can truly be predicted well.

FF1: I can't imagine there's any untapped potential here. If the idea is to pick the strongest, then I just dunno. Former juggernauts who clearly relied on 8BT strength don't even make the contest, so any sort of power that would lend FF1 clearly is a product of a bygone era.

FF2/3: I imagine these games aren't ones most people have even played. FF3's remake was not well received; I feel like one of those characters made it once but then was booted? Not sure.

FF4: Yang's Wife, I guess?. For all the discussion about how, and it's been many many years now, she's never garnered interest in nominations. Typically if people think a joke is worth it, they wouldn't wait like a decade to pull the trigger on it.

FF5: No chance I can see.

FF6: ?????? has good potential, should it ever be allowed (I'd lean it should be personally but I can see the argument against). I feel like 6 is the first game in the series with a cast deep enough to support double digit entrants at once, but at the same time 6's days of being a powerhouse in SMFFFC are seemingly over. A lot of the best playable characters don't even make the game.

FF7: With the remake, you could technically have some potential here. Shinra staff or perhaps Biggs (though I feel like if people cared enough about his story arc he'd have been in by now. If he plays a bigger part in the next chapter, it's possible still though). Once the remake reaches other parts of the game you have potential out of people like Bugenhagen as well.

FF8: Without a remake any nomination is just another Fury.

At least I got Raijin into his first contest somehow when literally a lot of other more random characters made it in before him

?????? really should be allowed if black mage and red mage from FF1 are. They are both the same thing, playable interchangeable characters with no name or dialogue.

The other thing is that 8, 9, and 10 haven't had any trouble getting randos in before. The potential pool is a lot smaller when a lot of the meme picks have already had their year and then been booted, never to be seen again.

Yeah, I think VIII has exhausted its potential meme picks already. I guess we could try Diablos or Quetzacoatl, but I wouldn't have confidence in them. I think the available pool is deep enough. Just bring back Fujin or X-ATM092.

Queen Brahne: I'm probably one of the few people who would save her unironically, and even for me she'd be nowhere near a priority.

Zorn and Thorn: Hell yeah, I love these evil jesters. It'd be fun to try and push them as a duo one year. However, they are nothing without each other, and there's no way there's enough support for both of them to do consistently well.

Garland: This is probably the worst villain in IX, and that game had Necron! Speaking of...

Lani: It's almost impressive that she's a worse character than Amarant. I'm glad she didn't join the party instead.

Tantalus members: None of them would do better than Blank, who already didn't do very well in SMFFFC

Cid Fabool IX: The oglop king. This guy is funny, and I think he'd be one of the stronger Cids in a hypothetical year of them. However, he'd get booted the year after.

Dr. Tot: He helped Eiko write the best love letter ever. I love you, Dr. Tot!

Sir Fratley: I remember when Burmecian Soldier Dan got in, and I remembered so little about Sir Fratley that I assumed Dan must be Freya's boyfriend. What a character.

He let Dark Nation in on the technicality that Dark Star in the remake was a unique enemy. He just decided to be nice and keep the name as Dark Nation in the contest.

I've made this argument for years to no avail. The FF1 characters were always just proxy entrants for 8BT, which is not a valid source material. For whatever reason though each host has always been really tough on the Ghost.

I could see Fabool being able to do well enough in a year of Cid entrants if that ever took shape, he has a fair amount of screen time and you even get to play as him kinda. FF9 probably has plenty of potential with a remake, far moreso than I could see out of 8. Even with a remake of 8, they'd really have to expand the roles and personalities of the supporting cast for them to be at all interesting.
