D7 isn't out over here yet, unless I'm playing the demo for a rerelease of a game I didn't even know came out?

Well the way you phrased it I thought you were talking about previous games too. (I have very little knowledge about how many games there are. I just remember there were 3 or 4 in the ps3 days)

Ah, in that case yes, I felt the same for D5 and D6, too.

D3 is the last time I thought these games landed at all. It's honestly felt like they've put less effort into every release. Now they've ditched sprites, which isn't bad on it's own, but the 3D models look like they'd be OK in a PSP game.

I don't think it's impossible for a new Disgaea game to work, but they've got to do something drastic.

And they should have just not made anymore. I certainly didn't come close to finishing 4, and as stated I could not force myself though the demos of 5 and beyond.

I am kind of scared to even look at D2 (the game actually called D2) in case it taints something.

I liked D2 okay! It wasn't 1, but it wasn't 6 either.

I really wanted to like 6 :\

I've only ever played 1.

Curious to know what's wrong with the new ones

6 tried a lot of new stuff with artstyle and mechanics, and most of it didn't land.

I haven't played a lot of the middle ones but I kinda get the sense that they got lightning in a bottle and now feel stuck trying to recapture that

I'm not a big Disgaea fan, played 1 and 2 but skipped a generation, but I enjoyed 5 when I played it. I didn't really see any difference, for good or evil.

They shouldnt have gone 3d

I haven't played a Disgaea game since 5, which I could only tolerate about an hour of. I'm honestly surprised there's still a market.

I honestly got sort of burnt out on the series as time passed.

I think it's because I played the first one to death. Heck, I even defeated the super final boss with just one character. Flonne vs. Uber Prinny Baal.
I dropped quite a lot of time into D2.
And with D3, I played it for a while, and that's where the series started to wear on me.

D5 is fantastic, haters gonna hate.

I've only played 1, 2, and 5, but I think I'd rank 5 as my favorite of the three? (admittedly 1 was the DS version, so maybe that matters)

5 had great gameplay and a decent story. Barring the D1 crew, D4 is probably my favorite. Valvatorez was fun

I don't think there was anything wrong with what I played. I just wasn't into Disgaea anymore, for some reason.

D2 was a perfectly serviceable albeit unnecessary sequel.

I agree with the formula wearing down on me though. The concept of learning a new Disgaea game and all the stats and grinding that goes into it just makes me go "...no" at this point.

From what I've played: 1 > 5 > 2 > 3
