Yeah, if I'm low on health, and near a big pack, I'll swing wide before the pit stop to avoid the crowd and then spin in.

I can only imagine doing that if I had a super boost ready to go or was very close to getting one - otherwise I'd feel crippled on boosting for the next lap! I have gotten way better at doing that in general though to avoid big packs of racers.

Actually no, if I had literally no health, I would do that as well. But I wouldn't have boosted to that point pre-final lap.

FYI you can actually boost while empty on meter, it just won't last as long, but it can be useful for getting that last push to get into the pit zone or across the finish line

Hot damn. I got my first 1st place win with the Golden Fox and the "finish a race without hitting any barriers" icon in the same race. Genuinely never thought I'd get that barrier icon unlocked. That was amazing.

It is, but mostly cause it sucks.

Also 99 people in two even teams. Explain that.

I've gotten 2 GP wins with the goose, the only things I have left to do vehicle wise is get some more leaderboard points with it and win one with the stingray

Oh man I'm hyped for this when I get the chance to play it! Also love that they call it the second update, implying there will indeed be more. Please tell me that the "Satellaview" found by data miners does indeed refer to Satellaview tracks.

Crashed out first lap of Death Wind 2 of all courses (the only one I'd played) with the Golden Fox my first King Cup. Finished my second with the Wild Goose! Sure I came in 20th place of the last 20, but at least I finished!

Fire Field still rules.

Imagine managing to complete the fourth race of a Grand Prix for the first time, you are finally about to play the fifth and final track of the GP that you cannot play on single race mode, you await for the results screen to disappear so you can be taken to said fifth race... Then you are suddenly disconnected, kicked out of the GP, returned to the title screen, and you don't get to play that fifth track even in practice. Oh, and your three tickets don't get refunded. Thanks for playing!

What a slap in the face to someone who was willing to put in the time to even just play the last track and maybe even place just so that they can say they finished the GP, only to get thrown out due to Nintendo's infamously bad online severs. And no, you can't make the excuse that my internet is bad because I've seen streamers get timed out during races.

Oh, and while I was originally writing this, my laptop blue screened, further wasting my time.

I've had like four disconnects like this, be glad you just got the one! Only one of those was on the last race though and it wasn't the King Cup, which is harder to get to the end of. But a lot were in the first race which is kind of more frustrating! Total waste of three tickets

I think I had one or two disconnects in the first race myself (I remember getting disconnected during the start of Death Wind II), but yeah, really unfair to get so far and lose three tickets on that.

... Which leads into some good news! After persisting, I finally got to Fire Field (and dared not to play fast) and finished the King League. Hurrah!

The only time I've come across that was maybe the single worst time I could have.

The next update, they really need to just make every track pop up in regular 99 races. Or at least every track but the final one in each cup

At this point, I'm S2 ranked and I still haven't gotten first place in any race. I don't think I ever will if this is my competition.

Yeah, I think it would be useful to introduce a system in place for Grand Prixs where players are matched to lobbies in relation to their accomplishments/experience. Feels like the best chance people will have is to join Mini Prixs and Grand Prixs during quieter times.

I have had two devastating crash outs recently in GPs. One was literally as late of a crash out as possible...very last lap of Silence in the Knight Cup. I boosted into a bumper, hit the wall, and crashed right before crossing the finish line. But I was like 11th or something overall (think I was 3rd that race) so no way was I winning.

The second was in the King Cup; I was in first going into the third race! I don't think I've ever been in first at any point in any GP, so this was exciting. Was about to have a top 5 finish on Port Town 2 when I similarly boosted into a bumper. This time wasn't right before the finish though and it was a red bumper. Probably more devastating than the first crash out. That said, I have no faith in myself being able to keep that first place on Fire Field. Need more practice on that level since I only ever played it once!

I just laughed both of these off because they were so dumb. Gotta quit boosting into bumpers

I usually get a full Grand Prix if I start it right when it goes up. Also on weekends in general it seems easier to get 99 players
