I heard they got a new director for localizing or something starting with Ishin remake. Could it be because of that?

I mean that could be part of it but I wouldn't think that the loc team would throw out all the old work without any concern for parity.

Another thought I had is that maybe they maintain the "Yakuza" style name as a throwback to the series' original name of "Yakuza" in the West.

How'd you like Dead Souls buddy?

I think Dead Souls was fun if flawed! I might go back to it in the future.

I just didn't make a guide for it, because I didn't start writing LAD guides until 2016 with Yakuza 5. I was writing new releases as time went forward, then with the Remastered Collection did guides for 3 and 4.

I've toyed with the idea of a Dead Souls guide but the odds of it ever coming off PS3 are slim.

And then another guy wrote a guide in my style and I think that'll be fine. :)

I flirted with the idea of buying Dead Souls for my PS3, but I'm still holding out just in case.

I really wish they would port Kenzan over but I doubt that will ever happen.

If you treat it like a modern third-person shooter, it's awful.

However, very early you can unlock a skill that auto-tracks your non-aimed shots towards zombie heads (within reason), and soon you're just popping heads left and right as you go, basically eliminating much of the need to aim, at least in standard runs through the QZ.

Furthermore, some of the substories are gold, you can play as Majima and Ryuji Goda, and you get Majima's only ever "hostess dating" interaction.

Well, we found Kson. She's in Revolve Bar, basically the Hawaiian version of Survive Bar from 7.

So there is a non-zero chance that an extremely popular character who "died" in Yakuza 3 is coming back. Spoilers in this post for Yakuza 3 and slight spoilers for Yakuza: Like a Dragon (7).

That character is Yoshitaka Mine.

This character has always rated extremely high in popularity polls even well after Yakuza 3 was released. Like coming in third on the poll in the mid-2010s.

There exists audio only conversations that happened this year where Kson and producer Yokoyama, discuss the character's popularity and have very teasing dialogue about the possibility of his return.

And now with a look in Revolve Bar (the bar in Hawaii), we see an American bartender with a very familiar hairstyle and facial structure. People put it together quickly that the man looked quite similar to Andre Richardson, another character from Yakuza 3 who "died". More specifically, at the climax of 3, Mine grabbed Richardson and jumped off the roof of Touto Hospital, to their apparent deaths... that were never 100% confirmed with bodies or news reports or anything like that.

There are amazing parallels between Survive Bar and Revolve Bar. The bars look almost exactly the same for one, and both of them, it would seem, are run by a man who was thought dead after Yakuza 3. Kashiwagi in the case of Survive Bar, and possibly Richardson for Revolve Bar?

Furthermore cementing the identity of the bartender is that in the karaoke song "Judgement -Shinpan-", once they enter the "music video" portion, Kiryu and Ichiban are singing the song, while the Revolve Bar bartender is off to the side on the keyboard, wearing a familiar pair of aviator sunglasses, making him look even more definitively like Andre Richardson. This also continues the parallels with Survive Bar, since in the Yakuza 0 cut of Judgement, the keyboardist was Kashiwagi!

Lastly, and this is a loose connection to be fair, but when Kiryu activates his power that allows him to go into beat-em-up mode, a tattoo flashes behind him. It's not HIS tattoo, though. It's a kirin tattoo, Mine's exact tattoo.

Soooo essentially people are going nuts and we're all starting to wonder if anyone actually died in Yakuza 3. >_>

Oh uh yeah and Judgement Shinpan the karaoke song is back and it's got Kiryu and Ichiban singing, which further parallels because Ichiban and Nishiki have the same voice actor.

Not as of yet, but now I'm building up a streaming base, so if there's any reaching out between now and Gaiden's or IW's release, I'll at least have visual content to show them.

I missed the call for Ishin because I wasn't confident in just the guides being enough to sell them, but maybe if they can put a voice to it.
