And honestly I think this is my all time favorite Final 3? I legitimately love Locke and Vanille. I certainly hope Aerith can pull it off this year but no matter what I'll be pleased.

It's got one great character, one good-ish character, and one okay character.

Squall/Zack/Rikku was definitely way better than this

All solid characters in this one, at least.

I mean starting from the Final 5 this was great to me, even if I was pulling for Red the most.

I think my top 3 top 3s all have Locke in them

Well, this is definitely a top 3 top 3 with Locke in it.

you know, I had a feeling when I said that that we'd come to this

I don't think any final 3 will ever beat the three-contest stretch from VI to VIII.

I'm shocked that Red XIII had not one, but two last standings and 4th place wasn't good enough for one of them. Now that Barret run feels excessively overdue... again screw FBike and his crappy internet. I'm stoked I was a part of Nanaki's best run ever and I'm proud to have helped him reach this new height. Thanks to anyone else who helped along the way. Good stuff!

alright, some pre-Day 98 bonus stats, I guess.

This is the 6th instance in SMFFFC history where 2 of the final 3 characters are women, with half of the instances in raytan era and the other half uh, being the past three contests... pretty neat

III (Celes 1st, Rydia 3rd)
VII (Terra 2nd, Freya 3rd)
XII (Ashe 2nd, Rydia 3rd)
XXIII (Aerith 2nd, Agrias 3rd)
XXIV (Aerith 2nd, Faris 3rd)

Of course as noted above, only one of those previous instances produced a winner & none produced an all-female final...

I also went back and checked the Day 98 vote totals from the lefty era (and threw in contest XIX since it was in the log site for good measure) and this is how they shook out:

XXIV: 65
XXIII: 66
XXII: 71
XXI: 73
XX: 67
XIX: 67

Out of all those, contest XXIII is the only one which didn't have an H2, but that was the pandemic peak-saving era of 2021. While we've picked up more regular participation over last year (per the "user save stats" I posted previously) I don't think we're quite at those totals for this year, though it's felt that way at times...

So yeah, who knows. Maybe no H2, maybe we finally hit the elusive (heart-breaking) round maximum of 74 saves! I guess we'll see.

I ignore plenty of topics, especially if I accidentally click them because otherwise the new posts icon would forever catch my eye and I just don't care about NFL topics and whatnot
