While I think it's kinda weird that it's accepted as so normal, my best friend and his wife both got lap dances from strippers at their respective parties before the wedding

I'm guessing they cleared it up with each other prior but the guy getting one was pretty awkward to watch

No, it's not "obvious". Most women I know would have no problem with it, assuming you aren't paying for "extra".

I am not doing it for my bachelor party in a couple weeks because I don't care for it, but she wouldn't care if I did.

I also said she could have a male stripper btw

You know that these parties aren't planned by the groom/bride, right?

So if your best friend takes you to a topless bar, are you going to say, "Fuck the friend I've had since high school, I'm bailing!"

'Cause if that's your take, you are letting your other dictate who you may or may not have as friends.

And you should then ask if she's good with you dictating who her friends will be.

Dang, you are really uptight about sex and nudity.

It's more fun to enjoy it. Repression just leads to violence.

Has nothing to do with being uptight. If politely refusing an inviation to a thing puts a strain on your friendship (with your best friend, no less), you need to grow up.

It's not unreasonable to want your partner not to go to strip clubs. And it's not unreasonable to be fine with it either.

If I ever had a bachelor party I'd be okay with skipping out on a strip club and just heading to the mall to go to Dave & Busters, Apex, the other place with laser tag and Zero Latency instead. But if she has a stripper at her party I'm getting one at mine.

Or you know, you could tell your friend that you aren't comfortable going to a place like that and if they decide to plan one there anyway you learn they don't respect you or your partner then you can decide if that's really the kind of person you can consider a friend.

Everyone knows why they are there.
The is no pretense like at a typical bar.
That is the difference, and there is nothing wrong with that.

It's entirely subjective. I guess this sexual openness is an American thing? Never seen this type of thinking in the UK, or anywhere else for that matter.

I'm more concerned by the fact that my best friend is planning a night of festivities for me without letting me know anything I'm doing in advance. If my friend doesn't discuss with me beforehand that were going to a strip club then my friend doesn't know if he's causing me to cross some pretty significant boundaries in my relationship or not. Thankfully my wife doesn't give a shit about that sort of thing, so if my best friend had a surprise trip to a strip club planned it wouldn't be an issue for me, but I can easily see how it would be an issue for others.

Not ever Berlin, Amsterdam none of those places?
Americans are completely uptight about these things.

I could tell anyone I was going to a Casino and no one would bat and eye.
Tell someone you are going to a titty bar and they instantly think you a fucked up.

I mean some people like the surprise, but at least finding what is and is not acceptable before planning is the way to go.
