It's a real thing and it triggers a level of trypophobia in me.
I'm not gonna post them, but there's a lot diseases that leave small holes in the body, which is probably where this reaction stems from.

There was a vid of a veterinarian squeezing out mango worms out from a dog somewhere in Africa (with his fucking bare hands) and each extracted worm left behind some bean-sized holes.

Mango worm videos are very satisfying

I have a recurring nightmare of worms crawling through my arm, but it's less a "oh god the horror" nightmare and more of an "ewww wtf not this shit again" kind of nightmare. I think I'm so jaded that my subconscious is having trouble keeping up.

Man, I felt so bad for that dog. Its dermal layers were fucking separated in large areas, you could just see a whole pocket of skin move on its back, where the worms were so dense.
