Punishment is a given, but it should be the kind of punishment that teaches a lesson.

Is there some way they can be told to find another school without an actual expulsion unless they refuse?

It's very clear you don't care about actually dealing with kids in a productive way and frankly I'm glad the school is actually investigating the situation instead of just being knee jerk reactionaries.

100% expel the ringleaders. They ruined their own lives. If they did this to one of my daughters, expulsion would be getting off lightly.

The school can make sure the students aren't in the same classes together or have the same lunch periods. You don't need to expel students to do that.

Yeah I agree with punishing people who do that. They should also have rules that forbid anyone from posting lewd or suggestive imagery of themselves when they are students at a school. It's unprofessional and largely garners negative attention from exactly this kind of creep, and will cause a bunch of drama. You're never gonna see the guy admiring a girl twerking go and then respect her. The world does not reshape itself based on what we believe it should behave like.

He's right though. You've spent more time worrying about what impact certain punishments might have on the boys than thinking about the safety of the girls who had their consent violated. Very little of this topic is spent on what's best for the victims period, which is pretty fucked ngl

I literally stated that since the photos and stuff were happening out of school, expelling the students wouldn't stop it and seems like a poor way to punish the boys. But it's clear none of you are interested in reading anything other than the conclusion you've already came to.

It sounds like you're making a lot of assumptions with what little information we have about this.

Now, to be clear, I do think that they deserve to be punished, as it sounds like they photographed the girls while they were unaware.

But from what has been said, it sounds like this was something that was privately passed around between boys. Officials aren't even sure yet how many boys have shared the pictures, how long this was going on for, or how many girls were photographed. So this isn't a situation where the girls are aware of exactly which boys did it.

So there are plenty of ways to ensure that the girls still feel safe without the only option for punishment being expulsion. They need to be taught that what they did was wrong and why they shouldn't do it again. Not just kick them out and let them become another school's problem.

They are kids. Focus should be on educating them. Throwing them out means they learn nothing and it makes them more vulnerable to shit head misogynistic influencers.

It still puts the victims face to face with their abusers if you don't remove the boys from the situation, vs the school being a sort of buffer between them if they're expelled. You do know that the point of having a childhood is making dumb mistakes and learning from them so you can be a better adult.

Kicking these students out of school completely for actions done outside of school does not teach these kids anything nor does it prevent the kids from continuing the behavior on snapchat.

Your reactions just feel really extreme. Basically it's support expelling them or you have zero empathy for the victims. I just think it's weird to frame it that way, when the guilty parties are 13-14 year olds.

And as for the punishment, the principal said that the boys involved will be having a meeting at school with their parents. And they were looking at suspending them and making them attend Saturday school. I could see that being used as an opportunity to teach them about sexual harassment and consent.

Suspend them and tell them what did they did is wrong.

Seriously some here are fucking saying sexual harassment charges?! They took pictures of clothed women and talked amongst themselves.
