So Ive been on new meds in the last few weeks. They work great, and most of the side effects have subdued over time, except for one. Almost every time I fall asleep, I have vivid, often bad, dreams. They arent getting better. If anything, theyre getting worse. Some reoccurring themes in them include fires, revisiting school, and failing in life.

My last dream was actually about me embarrassing myself in front of all of Board 8. I must care about this place an awful lot for it to be in a dream.

Does your psychiatrist know about this? If no, send a MyChart message. Each med has a "stabilization period" and you may be in the thick of that.

And yes, you obviously care about this place a lot if it's in your dreams. I've been there, long ago.

I have been planning on telling my psychiatrist. I just dont see them often unfortunately. They knew about my side effects in general last time we talked.

I had this same side effect on a new antidepressant. It was a hard "no" for me and I had to work with my doctor to find a different medication. Sometimes it can take a while to find one that works for you but it's your doctor's job to help you do that, so don't be afraid to just tell them it's not working and you need something else.

I forgot to mention, but my meds are specifically for anxiety/OCD, not depression.
