The Republican party runs predominantly on fear. It's not a case of what they do for you, it's what they're threatening you with.

If the libs win:

• You'll be forced to share your house with illegal immigrants
• You'll pay $15/gal at the pump
• America's military will fall into disrepair
• You'll lose your existing benefits because the country will go bankrupt
• All criminals will be let go and police will be abolished
• Your guns will be confiscated
• You & your kids will be forced to undergo gender transition
• Christianity will be banned

etc.

This is why I hate dealing with sports fans/political zealots. It's like they base their own identity on whatever their base tells them to, it's disgusting. Every little thing has to be political, every little thing triggers someone. Both sides have shit representatives for the next election yet people still believe one side is better than the other.

Things are obviously a lot worse now since the rise of stupid MAGA cult. But I have been asking this question since approximately 1992. The GOP has been a dumpster fire for a while. Since before 1992, but that is when I was old enough to be aware of it.

If you're a single-issue voter who only cares about getting tax cuts or abortion bans then I guess Republicans are your only choice.

Aside from that, a lot of it is fearmongering. Unfortunately, that works because in a two-party system you don't actually need to convince anyone that you're a good candidate to get them to vote for you. You just need to convince them that the other candidate is worse.

Being sane and rational do not just automatically make somebody a good person with good beliefs.

They're under the impression that their taxes will be slightly lower but the only people who actually benefit from republican policies are the mega-wealthy and corporations.

I'm sure his time would be better spent getting in contact with his republican representatives and asking them to stop being shit heels. Then if they listen and actually stop pushing bigotry, open claims of unproven "election fraud," stop having people in their party openly call for the death of political opposition, etc. then maybe CE will stop making topics about how bad republicans are.

I mean there was always political topics of the same kind but at least when The Politics board was open it acted as a quarantine zone for people who only want to talk about them. Removing the board was a mistake.

I can't remember how many years ago I moved from poll of the day to current events but I did so because they were both similar in the sense that there was a wide variety of topics to talk with but there was more people.
