Hope they do. But as a Cleveland Indians/Guardians fan, it can be heartbreaking: mid-market, watch every day all summer, lose ALCS/WS

Will never recover from 2016 vs Cubs. Thankfully the Cavs won that year

grayson and bradish are probably as good of a 1-2 duo as we'll get in the playoffs. o's lineup is good.... don't see why we'd count em out.

i think the teams most likely to win in order are

braves - home runs have the largest correlation with winning in the playoffs. fried, strider, elder, maybe morton will be a good playoff rotation altho strider is HR prone himself....
rays - they managed to glue together a great pitching staff despite injuries and can hit as well as anyone but the braves
orioles - already posted
rangers - lineup is too good and their pitching is able to hold it together somehow
phillies - their strat of wheeler/nola and hitting bombs worked last year maybe it can work again
astros - dusty baker and jeff bagwell over james click was such a bonehead move but they can still hit and can't count out framber and verlander as playoff aces... playing maldonado over yainer wtf
mariners - pitching is really good, ok hitting, what do you want from me
twins - same as mariners, think numbers may be inflated a bit by playing in the al central tho....
dodgers - this pitching staff appears to be done and i dont think it holds up against the braves or phillies over a 7 game series. literally bobby miller as your ace cmon man
brewers - better pitching than the twins but worse hitting, kinda doubt that works out
dbacks - this team is so mid, if they win a playoff series i will rage
cubs - this team is so mid, if they win a playoff series i will rage
marlins - this team is so mid, if they win a playoff series i will rage
reds - this team is so mid, if they win a playoff series i will rage

It would be pretty cool, never been a fan of them but always a fan of teams using what they have and not buying everyone.

But nah, I can see them winning a series or 2 but its gonna be the start of something special there in Baltimore.

Brian Cashman started spreading this nonsense to excuse the Yankees getting their shit pushed in every year and not accept his role in being unable to build a proper team and get good pitching. The fact it's spread across all of the fanbase is pretty saddening.

The teams that hit the best all year long generally have the most success in winning the WS. People say "But the 2019 Nationals". The 2019 Nats had the highest win percentage in baseball from end of May/start of June to the end of the season, meaning they were the best team in baseball for a majority of the season.

this was actually billy beane who said this in moneyball. he said he could get the athletics to the playoffs but once they were there its anyone's guess.

the 2021 braves were nowhere near the best team in the league when they won the world series. and it isnt like anyone last year thought the phillies (even after adding harper down the stretch) were the nl's best team over atlanta, new york, or la. the 2020 astros sucked. had an under 500 record and made the alcs anyway with expanded playoffs that year.

anyway those are just three examples from the last three years but if you want to cherry pick one season to make your point go for it bro

The 2021 Braves and 2023 Phillies as a team, had hitting statistics roughly in line with all of the other top teams. The Braves were the 8th best hitting team and the Phillies were the 6th. Which is why I said "The teams that hit the best all year long generally have the most success in winning the WS." There are always exceptions to the rules, of course. I never said otherwise. The Yankees for example, were not a good hitting team last year. They just made it as far as they did because the AL sucks and got bounced by an actual team in 4 games.

Nah I think they've got plenty of opportunities to come. They've still got some great prospects and a hell of a lot payroll flexibility if they ever decide to spend on free agents. The AL East is brutal, but the Yankees and Red Sox both look really mediocre right now and that probably won't be changing in the near future.

Sure, the Orioles "can" win it all this year, but I think Atlanta is the best team in all of baseball.

Instead of chasing markets and all that BS, MLB should be making damn sure that the guys on both the O's and the Braves are advertised as the "now and future" of the league, as both rosters are full of young talent (including the best player in baseball this year, who is still only 25 years old) AND they're competing when the stakes are at their greatest.

the phillies were 10th in wrc+ and braves were 12th with a 99 wrc+. no clue what you are looking at. they were nowhere near other teams in the NL.

The Astros are still the favorite in the AL until proven otherwise. they have gone to the ALCS 6 straight years and been to the WS 4 times in that span.

every other team is a complete dice roll, so who knows. the braves seem unstoppable, but the playoffs are silly and we've seen unstoppable teams go 1 and done plenty of times

The Astros have proven to be a great postseason team, but on paper I'd say the Orioles, Rays, Rangers, and Jays all look way better than them. So I wouldn't even remotely consider them the favorites.

I could see (and I hope it happens) the Braves going out the exact same way they did last year. The Phillies are a pretty dangerous team I think. So while the Braves are certainly the favorites to win it all, we'll have to see just how it all unfolds.
