I think the reason also is because there's just soo many good GOTY potentials that just got released this year that might overshadow some people's opinions on TotK, BG3 being the biggest one. I think he overplayed the "criticizing totk will get you publicly stoned" bit One argument I never liked is the "give us back traditional dungeons" complaint. I don't believe you could ever design a OoT/TP/WW Dungeon with BotW/TotK mechanics and movement. The whole "solve room-by-room puzzles and combat until you get the one item that works against the boss and collects dust for the rest of the game" doesn't work in a game about finding resources, taking risks, exploring new places, trying new approaches to familiar situations, and being prepared for the unknown. I think BotW and TotK dungeons could have been better done, getting to the dungeons was almost always more fun than the dungeons themselves even.
