I still do not understand that show or why it became a hit. As an 80s kid, I know the ponies as a franchise for little girls. That's all it will ever be to me. I don't get it.

It started to become popular because it made people mad on 4chan. It was the easiest way to troll, so it was spammed.
Eventually, it became legitimately popular.

I lost interest after S2, to be honest. S1 was nice and fresh, and legitimately pretty clever. For the most part I could take or leave S2, but the addition of Discord was nice. S3 onward, eh. Started to lose its luster.

i wish there was some other anniversary stream than the 4chan-adjacent one.

i think season 5 is really where it hit stride.

The biggest fans are in their 40s now. How time flies

I thought Care Bears was a bigger deal. My oldest friend his sister is named Karen. We never discussed this since then, but that name is ruined for life because of the internet. Pony 'em up though I never got the the brony culture either.

I kinda figured out why. It's not an exact science or whatever but Twilight Sparkle was constantly #1 in "best pony" polls which basically says it all.

Twilight Sparkle is a loser nerd with no friends (at the start of the show at any rate). It so happens that's a very common personality type in fandoms in general. But the polls weren't that lopsided. The show had a very diverse cast of personalities and even if you couldn't really identify with Twilight, chances are you could attach yourself to one of the other 5. And because all the characters were rainbow colored ponies, it was race/ethnicity agnostic giving it a broader appeal than something like Powerpuff Girls who were an all white cast.

Discord was amazing, after that I lost interest.

I hated My Little Pony in the 1980's and I hate it today.

One thing I will give the 1980's cartoon is that it had far superior animation compared to the crap used in FiM.

I never did finish my story on FiMFiction either that I started back when I mistakenly thought I had the language and artistic talents to write.

season 4 is the best season

plus we got equestria girls after season 3 and while the first film was meh

the 2nd and beyond is great

hell rainbow rocks is in my top 5 films of all time

EQG never appealed to me. Nothing against it, it just didnt. I joined the fandom early enough to remember when that phrase was actually the title of a song.

I tell everyone that Equestria Girls is the Assassin's Creed of animated movies.

The first one was an interesting idea, but was heavily flawed and I wouldn't really recommend it
The second one fixes literally everything wrong with the first one and ends up being a fantastic experience

i really wanted to hate eqg stuff but like, it ended up being the same as mlp stuff was in like 2010, gave it a shot and just really ended up enjoying it

rainbow rocks is the shit honestly, like it's so well-paced

That fandom is part of why I no longer identify with fandoms. The only activity youll see me engage in is casual general discussion or maybe writing (once upon a time) fanfiction.

I never saw past the third EQG, but I do remember enjoying it
Honestly, the first one was the only one I wasn't big on. And that's entirely because of the pacing, things happen a mile a minute and its to it's detriment

• Twilight loses her crown, needs to get it back, needs to leave before a certain amount of time, ok great
• Twilight needs to get all of the human version of the mane 6 together so she can get the crown. Cool. Oh, she gets them together almost immediately
• Twilight is the new girl and won't win a popularity contest to get her crown back. Awesome. Oh, she becomes popular right away
• Oh no! The dance floor is wrecked and is unusable, this means that Twilight won't be able to get her crown in time before the portal closes? This could be a problem! Oh, nevermind everyone is already cleaning it up in the next scene
• Twilight was framed and is now possibly going to face expulsion, meaning that she'll never get the crown! Oh, in the EXACT SAME SCENE Flash saves the day

Compare that to "Need to stop the Dazzlings and also our in-fighting"
Movie didn't have enough time to breathe. Too many things kept happening and were being solved near instantly, it made everything pointless.

Makes you feel like watching Ghost Writer on TV was cool or old cartoons.

its a shame equestria girls never got a proper finale

this is what i would want out of one

its graduation and sunset is thinking about her future and what she wants to do with her life

and there is going to be a graduation princess ceremony (because)

sunset decides the human world his her home and its where she belongs

we get sunset winning the graduation princess ceremony but unanimous write in vote as in sunset did not enter but every one wrote her name in anyways (well except her obviously)

and then we get princess twilight showing up as sunset asked her to come by and sunset hands twilight her magic book and asks twilight to destroy the mirror severing the connection between worlds (so that no more equestrian magic criminals ect can be sent to the human world)

sunset bids farewell to princess twilight sparkle who responds "farewell princess sunset shimmer" confirming sunset has ascended and did it all on her own

yea i know its sappy and cringe but its what id want out of a final for equestria girls
