If I'm mostly watching it for what is being said, I'm prolly going 1.5-2x.
I like to do that in bed to wind down. Slowing the speed when I'm ready seems to help put me to sleep, too.

I barely use YouTube. In fact I use it so little I freely admit I didnt even know you could change the playback speed though I have no reason to. One of the most annoying things is people circumventing copyright law so they post movie clips sped up so everyone sounds strange. I dont want to replicate that with normal videos.

Depends on what it is.

If its talking or, say, a game video, then yes.

Listening to music, no.

Its mostly as a time saver, specially for long videos. You can argue about attention span, but you are saving some time.

Never I'll just skim in regular speed. Also whoah!!!!!!! Does playing videos in a higher speed increase the rapidity of mid roll ads because I think that is what really was the problem. And Google and their bandwidth costs threatening to deleting old videos etc.

Oh god yes. Some vids I watch have people talking at a snail's pace. Sometimes I even forget I have my player at double speed because the person sounds like they're speaking at a normal pace.

I can often make out what they say just fine at 1.5x espeically if they talk slower than average, but often listening to it at that speed hurts my ears so when i do that im just doing it try and cycle through what they say at that point wondering why im doing so

To catch up on live streams, or to have fun with music. Nothing else though.

If people can't speak at a decent pace or blather about unrelated shit they just don't need the view. The fuck I care about their channel for, there's probably like ten other people minimum with videos on the same shit.

If it's music or something I actually want to watch then no but something like a longer vid that takes too long to get to the point or a livestream might get put at 1.5 or 2x depending on how much filler is in it.

I knew it would be an unpopular thing to do, but yes I sometimes use 1.5x or even 2x times speed. It's weird because I'm just watching videos for entertainment so why do I want to get through them faster? I usually do it if the person speaks slowly or if it's a really long video and I want to cut down on time.

Only for videos that don't have speaking. I occasionally watch some of the non-fake restoration videos and crafting videos on like 4-6x speed because there's really no need for them to be like 20 minutes.

The only times I ever drop below 2.5 are when I really want to retain it but it's not sticking for whatever reason. Some people go slow enough that 3.5x was listenable.

Music excepted of course, though for whatever reason I've always felt that almost all songs sound better at 1.2x.

If it's just talky stuff, documentaries where the footage is unimportant, I default to 2x speed. Normal speed is for music and animation. Really needs to be a way to make that shit faster.
