[LFAQs-redacted-quote]

Why is it douchey? I don't operate under the notion that I don't "personally believe in God", but that there is no God because there is no proof. What is the actual functional difference between belief in god and other baseless evidence? That a lot of people really believe in it?

You see? I can't even talk about God without being seen as rude because it's a minefield. Religious belief commands respect that other baseless views do not. "God isn't real" and "Ghosts aren't real" are basically the same statement, but the former means you're needlessly antagonistic and disrespectful. Why is it different? It just is!

Delusions and hallucinations are very much real for the people who experience them and take steps to not experience that in their lives.

Who am I to tell them the reality they experience is any less real than mine?
I'm not going to call religion a delusion, but I'm pretty sure we deem people who are literally hallucinating as ill. Medical and psych doctors do a little more than go "Who are we to say their reality isn't equally valid?"

"Nobody knows what reality is even real" is a copout that goes down a dangerous rabbit hole.

Advice taken, thanks.
ForsakenHermit blocked me because I made some undirected comment about people who say something or other generally having an objectified view of women.

Zero clue. I wasn't raised with it.
