I watch a lot of horror and most of it is dumb fun with the best stuff being really tense and suspenseful. Rarely I'll get grossed out or see something disturbing. But not counting being startled by a quality jumpscare, I'm pretty much never scared by a movie.

At 3am I decided to put on Noroi which has been in my backlog for years and it was really good stuff with the presentation sucking me in. Found footage is pretty overdone, but this just worked the way it was edited with clips from television shows and what not. But the ending actually creeped me out big time. Was really well done and got me so sucked into it that I was actually scared for once.

Any movies or videos or anything that stick out in your heads that actually got you scared?

Most recent thing to come to mind for me is Event Horizon (I know, way late...).

I found the implications of that film really unsettling and it stuck with me for a good while afterwards.

The Babadook is the first movie that comes to mind that scared me. I know it gets ragged on, but for horror to scare me, the horror needs to be about something I actually fear, something tangible to my perceptions of the world.
