I swap out my bedsheets every week to ensure that shit never happens. It's probably the cleanest thing in my house as I always shower before/after bed, and I never eat in my room.

It fucking blows my mind that there are people out there who don't even change nor even take off their clothes before sleeping for the night.

my parents cats got fleas a couple times and that was awful but nowhere near as bad as bedbugs

Is it just me, or are bedbugs ALL the rage nowadays? Apparently europe is infested with them or something. They are big news in Toronto after being seen on the train. And just a lot more news in general on them lately.

I hung out in a place when i was younger that had bedbugs, a friends' apartment, just in the living room though. Never brought them home. Probably a terrible decision in retrospect. They had to have the place sprayed 3 times and then eventually moved out, because it was a full-building infestation.

According to "the data", bedbugs are seasonal for generally around July. You can see a bit of the summer spike in 2023 before the searches went nuts, which will indicate one of two things: A media frenzy, an actual crazy outbreak. Almost assuredly the first one, in Canada.

The top graph is the saddest. The searches go insane between 12:3 am. Probably a lot of panicked people.

I had them 7 years ago. It's not bad to self treat a bed as long as you have quality bed bug proof covers and basic metal bed frames. However if they infest a couch that piece of furniture is as good as gone. It's impossible to treat every nook and cranny that exists. It's cheaper to toss out the couches and buy new ones than to afford a professional exterminator.

Had a minor issue a long time ago. Took them home from a hotel in Belgium.

The small baby bed bugs have the worst bites.

but out of any infestation you could have, I rather have bed bugs over roaches, mosquitoes, ants any day.
