I went into one of the executives office and I saw an X3 script, and I immediately knew it was a lot fatter. I was like what the hell is this draft. He went, Dont worry about it, and Im like, No, no. Im the director. Im worrying about this draft,' he recalled. He wouldnt tell me, so I grabbed it literally it was like a crazy moment opened the first page, and it said, Africa. Storm. Kids dying of no water. She creates a thunderstorm and saves all these children.'

Vaughn admitted he found it a pretty cool idea, but once he learned what was going to happen to the script, his relationship to the project soured. [I went,] What is this? [They said,] Oh, its Halle Berrys script. I went, OK, because she hasnt signed up yet. But this is what she wants it to be, and once she signs up, well throw it in the bin,' the director said, recounting the executives response. I was like, Wow, youre gonna do that to an Oscar-winning actress who plays Storm? Im outta here. So I quit at that point.

Hollywood executives are scum.

I bet the executive was Simon Kinberg. That hack single-handedly killed that film franchise.

I mean he didn't seem that broken up when he continued to direct xmen movies after that... but yeah this was completely expected and definitely a racism angle at fox. What they did to Darwin in first class is still so hilariously obvious in its racist undertones that it borders on parody (and could have been fixed with something as simple as possible post credit scene)

She should have dropped out when they deleted her big scene. They broke their contract if she only signed up because of that scene

Storm was always the coolest and my favorite. I thought Halle did a good job playing her.
