I remember hearing about the beta, but nothing about it actually coming out.
I hate to signal boost it after the way they destroyed Payday 2 with the last year or two of updates, but does anyone at all care about this game?

Played it for a little bit. Playing with randoms is not fun.

It's trash. It's been a real dumpster fire of a release. Good base game with a ton of baffling decisions and bugs. Like on PS5, no pre order bonuses work, and the story scenes have zero sound and voices like no one even fucking tried.

They were going to have a patch on the 5th, then delayed it to mid October, now it's just indefinitely delayed until they can get their heads out of their asses.

That's not even to say how the first week it was unplayable due to server issues with no offline mode so effectively it was a junk product for over a week. And the PS systems lost a day of early access because the idiots sent in the wrong version for release

What kind of not fun specifically?
Because Payday 2 with randoms was genuinely really entertaining. Car Shop is a top 5 heist for the dumb stuff that happens alone.

I heard they got rid of the thing where you could interact with objects and deployables through walls, is that real?
And what about the always online/in-game currency stuff?

That's amazing. Sounds like I have some Steam reviews to read. For 2 and 3.

Is the story like 2's career mode where it's less of an actual story and more like a through-line linking all the heists, telling you what order to do them in?

Just play the 2nd game. Sucks less, is basically free, and has a larger player base.

No. It's static cutscenes played between heists. I haven't seen any, because I can't hear anything in them.

If they took like, literally anything they learned from 2 and implemented it, it would have been a better game. There's no melee weapons (in fact melee does 0 damage so slap away), no safe house, no customizing your van, no multi-day heists, annoying as hell loud objectives (sit inside a circle until a bar fills up and you are getting annihilated) and there's only 8 heists. The gun selection is piss poor (15 I think including secondaries? Maybe 18?) and the leveling system is fucking stupid.

You need to do challenges to level up. Do no challenges? Get no XP. This has caused the online to be garbage because people will just focus on doing challenges than, you know, doing the damn heist. People have found the spots to farm and leveling guns loud is the best way to do it. So people camp in a corner and sit there farming cop kills and you're stuck. Why? There's no kick option in game. The UI is also dog shit. There's no way to unready after you ready up in the lobby. After you complete a heist, the entire group disbands with no way to add friends if you liked the heist with them. The balance makes no sense either, the fastest heist gives you the most money. Free cash is like $200 so don't even bother with smaller safes. There's a currency you can only get with in game cash (not sure if they will start charging IRL money for it but I absolutely would not be surprised) but as you buy them (in stacks of 1, 5 or 10) they get more and more expensive, and some of the higher mods for guns cost them.

It is truly, truly baffling. This game CLEARLY needed more time in the oven. The things it does well is the transition from stealth to loud is far better, the gunplay is good enough (they fucked up and didn't add auto aim / auto aim strength to consoles cause they are idiots) and all the heists can be done either stealth or loud (save for one loud only heist, which is the one everyone spams for challenges cause it's quick and you get a ton of money).

End result is absolutely get Payday 2 and avoid this for a few years (or forever if they get bankrupt, their stock has plummeted due to how shit this release has been).

It's been out for less than a month, it came out 9/22.

Tried a few games on payday 2, couldn't get into it. Supposed to have steep learning curve and endless grind to be enjoyable.

I enjoyed grinding the gta heist missions 50 times, breaking the heisenberg rip off out of the prison more.

Oh I already did. I played the hell out of it, it was my number one pandemic game.
It was great until damage ranges and the fire bullets nerf.

knew it. i was saying for years that i wasn't excited for payday 3 because it won't live up to the huge range of guns and attachments that 2 has. i'm expecting killing floor 3 to be the same

I enjoyed payday 2 when it came out but the sheer amount of DLC drove me away. Payday 3 sounds like it's embracing some bad shit so I'll avoid it until it gets good or I forget.

There are 6 pistols. 6! SMGs are not secondary weapons, and no stuff like a double barreled shotgun either. You don't even need to buy more secondary slots because every one fits without need to expand it.

There are two overkill weapons, but one is a fucking waste of time. The grenade launcher is atrocious. You will kill yourself before you kill an enemy, and the reload time is ABSURDLY long. The .50 cal sniper is infinitely superior. Can kill dozers in 2 shots as opposed to 12091207 with the nade launcher, and you don't die when you use it.

It has "premium" weapons which are the same regular weapons but with specific attachments on them and skins. You cannot customize them, and they cost wild amounts of money. like $20 million.

It makes no sense. A sequel should IMPROVE upon the one before it, but it's like they went meh let's start over. It's terrible.

Music is still banger as I said earlier tho. The OST is quite good and the new person they hired to make it is killing it. It's the one bright spot in the game

You can spend millions on 5 different variations of the same suit with different colors tho!

Cloaker sounds worse. No longer constantly yelling. Lines suck. Voice isn't as distinct.
Grenadier is new so I should be nice, but I don't care for it.
Shield has learned to talk. He sounds like a non-special, but I'm proud of him for achieving speech. He's not very crazy sounding so I'm guessing it was PD2 Medic who was teaching him to speak.
Dozer sounds like the same guy. Not all is lost. Lines are worse though.
Taser- Uh, I mean Zapper is way worse. I really don't like this one. Payday 2 Taser was the best.

I saw someone suggest remaking all of Payday 3's level in Payday 2 as custom heists. That'd be funny.

People seem really unhappy with Payday 3's characters. Joy is back for some reason. They're probably saving Bain and Locke.
