That's true! The creators of the Saw franchise often include a way out if the victims can solve the intricate puzzles or moral dilemmas presented to them. It adds an extra layer of suspense to the movies.

Wasn't that really only the first one? I thought after that most of the sequels were straight revenge/murder traps with no actual way out.

Some, the lady with the key in the box in the second film could have beaten it by using one hand to hold the blades up, instead she stupidly puts both hands inside the box.

But was that clever design or dumb writing? Was the intent of that trap that she should have been able to escape by overcoming the personal vice, or was it just a poorly designed death trap combined with bad writing?

A vast majority of them require you to get mangled in some way.

And most of the ones that don't only give you a minute or 2 to complete the task before you die, so its not like you're gonna be able to scout around and analyze the situation.

Thats why I hate those "how to survive" videos.

The trap wasn't even for her. It was for the guy who got shot in the eye.

The real solution was that the box could be opened from the outside and no hands in the holes were needed

Technically all of Jeff's traps were really easy to beat...if Jeff wanted the people actually in the traps to leave them as soon as possible.

The Glass Grinder is really funny because the protagonist Banks could have used the trashcan that was used to conceal the key to block the flying glass shards and keep them from killing his partner long enough to buy him time to escape.

well yes, technically in the first one, there were victims that had a fair shot. but as found out in the 2nd one ( although not sure if this plot was created after the fact.) when amanda became his apprentice, the concept of fair play went out the window, and dolph lundgrens character was even more psychopathic.

so all their "games" were rigged. techincally even the 1st movies game was rigged... why place the key in the bathtub? Pretty obvious that was almost guaranteed to make it win. technically amanda helped set up the 1st movie game between max and the doctor. so its possible she rigged it to lose as well

When Jigsaw was in charge, he did give most of his victims a real fair shot at winning if they overcame their problems.

Those things truly are terrible. Each and every one of those creators acts like an expert in survival and all of it is literally just hindsight. If I had the funds, I'd make a Cube/Saw/Battle Royale type movie filled with em and just go to town.

The Shotgun Key trap in Jigsaw is case of John Kramer trying to impart wisdom on the victims and give them a way out. Won't get specific, just read about it.

Even the first one had traps where someone had to die.

Amandas trap had her gut a guy with a knife to get the key out. In the special features it was even worse because they said he was drugged to be still but had a heightened sense of pain.

Then there was Marks trap. That shit was basically unwinnable. Naked, covered in flammable gel, injected with poison, in a pitch black room with a floor covered in broken glass.

Only had a tealight candle to go around the room to try thousands of combos on that safe. There was no way he could have realistically survived that.
