At some point Google is gonna "win the war" and adblockers wont work will with Youtube. That's going to trickle across the internet eventually. Really there just needs to be heavy regulation and accountability for ads.

What needs to happen is this:

1. If an ad is a scam, Google AND the website it displayed on is accountable for any victims
2. If an ad has malware, Google AND the website is displayed on is accountable for any victims
3. For the above two points, there needs to be monetary compensation provided to victims equal to or exceeding whatever damages they suffered. Even if this is a multi billion dollar business that suffered a ransomware attack due to an ad and then closed its doors.

Obviously whoever submitted the ad through Google should be located and punished. But there needs to be punishment to Google for not curating the ad correctly, and there needs to be punishment to the website host for displaying it. No hiding behind "we just run googles script bro"

Failing those, then there should be regulation in place banning anti-adblock measures

Indeed. If they're going to force ads on us, they need to be responsible for them. None of this "we don't control the ads" bullshit, because yes you fucking do.
