Some of these could apply to Romney himself. Still, "a caricature of a for profit preacher" is a good description of Huckabee. Dead on balls accurate.

You can tell he and likely others have been saying some of these for years. "Sanctimonious" Santorum? That's practiced. And you just know they all call Huckabee a huckster.

And yet he is still part of their party, almost uniformly votes with them, and was part of setting the groundwork for their rise through spreading soulless corporate raider capitalism that destroyed the working class and made them vulnerable to these grifters.

Not to say that he's wrong about any of this. He's completely right on a micro level. But then the solution is to oppose these people in every way, not to lead their party.

And it's not like he can't easily be described as sanctimonious, severe, and strange himself.

They're all on point but the one about Huckabee is perfect

This is why Mitt deserves no respect, even though he correctly voted to impeach Trump and is clearly less insane than the other MAGA (or at least less willing to act insane to court MAGA votes).

All the people he has spent the last few years bashing either shaped the path to Trump we see today or are leaders in the GOP right now. We have MAGA today because of Newt Gingrich. Trump IS the Republican Party in 2023. Cruz continues to bend the knee to MAGA policies every chance he gets. And on and on.

My point:Romney is content to throw stones at these folks, but also remains content to be counted among them as a member of the GOP. As long as that is true, Mitt is nothing but a hypocrite. The GOP is now a domestic terrorism embracing cult. Any member is part of the problem, no matter how many books they sell decrying the organization they continue representing.

Insane hating

These are pretty mild truths compared to what could be said. The Huckabee one is perfect though.

I miss the times when political discussion was sorely based on what each person thought was best.
