at a certain point, it feels like its dragging for way too damn long.

dont get me wrong, im loving the gameplay and the story but feels like it takes forever to get through the damn game! heck i already gave up on doing all the side-quests and bounties: i just wanna get it over with as far as the main story goes! lol

guess it shouldnt take long to end now since i defeated Barnabas and absorbed his powers.

Yeah, I had the feeling of it taking a bit too long. I think because the gameplay variety amounts to "fight stuff and talk to people."

That's how I feel about Dragon Quest 11. Yeah I like it but jesus it goes on waaaaaaay to long. I feel like I'm never going to finish it.

I didn't end up finishing it. The peaks were incredible, but between those peaks.... my god. Just slogs. Walking, fetch quests, essentially filler.

I stopped a little bit after the duel with the titan guy - maybe i got a little further because I remember using the big fist punch skills. How far in was I percentage-wise?

I think I had around 120 hours when I got the platinum and finished DQXI completely and I felt like it ended way too soon. I really took my time with it. Me personally a game only feels like its too long if Im not fully enjoying it.

you mean that Hugo Kupka dude (the bald guy)?

id say that's around 50-60% of the game.

Yeah

Ok thanks - I may go back into it and just speedrun the rest. It really isn't gripping me with the exception of the incredible high points.

Yes. Game has very high points only to come to a stop and bombard you with shit, filler quests that break the pace. Remove most of these, add more depth to the battle system and it wouldve gotten more 9s and 10's across the board.

Yeah my battle system for every enemy to use the big wind tornado and then sip my beverage until it's almost done, then start comboing.

That's basically what Metal Gear Rising is.

I really like the game, but I agree with Maximilian when he said it doesn't go deeper into either action or role-playing, but instead tries to do both and comes back feeling kind of half baked with both of them as a result.

TC just wait till all the side quests open up. THEN you are done.

It's a shame, cause you get so burnt out by then, but the final set of side quests have some great writing and finish some character arcs.

The only reason to do them is for the story. They feel like they should be part of the main quest, and can actually permanently change parts of the world and NPCs.

But other than that, the rewards for most of them are kind of useless.

Yeah everything about them is useless but the story. The story is good though, was nice to do a world tour wrap up. Just a shame it's so, so arduous.

FFXVI is a slog if you dont like or have the patience for the story, I loved it and it was great. Gameplay was easy enough where really the highlight of the game is the story. Finished after 75 hours first playthrough. Great game.

Problem is the second time through. Didnt raise difficulty high enough, it got easier actually. Unlike FFVIIR hard mode.

Totally different than DQXI. DQXI the story was passable, charming. Funny. Not thematically relevant, just a fun story. The game is carried by hard monsters. Its fun as hell. Took 100 hours first playthrough, loved it so much due to the difficulty, though admittedly once you get the super spell from Veronica difficulty drops a lot.

FFXVI is a 9/10.
DQXI is a 9/10.
