Kinda bullshit. I wasn't given a choice but to press charges and yet they tell me he will likely only get a slap on the wrist.

Seems a major waste of everyone's time.

Honestly I don't give a rats ass if he gets more time over it. He didn't really hurt me. He was fucked up and I put hands on him to try and detain him. I expected some resistance. Didnt expect to be punched but as said it didn't really hurt me.

Now I gotta waste a day in court over this shit.

Can't. My job is making me. Was told I didnt have a choice. And I'm not the only one involved. My Sgt. Was assaulted too so I'd be drug into it either way cause he pressed charges too.

Fuck him though. His only excuse was he was high. If I got behind the wheel if a car drunk and hit somebody I couldn't use the excuse I was drunk.

I just hate I gotta waste my time with this.

Yep. Even if they couldn't force me. Being my employer they definitely have leverage to make me.

I pray this inmate does the sensible thing and pleads guilty considering it was all caught in camera

I can be. If they ain't giving me any grief I don't go outta my way to hassle them.

I catch people smoking all the time. A few things factor in. Do they show respect by trying to hide it when they see me coming? Can the camera see them? And if it is drugs can they handle their shit and not obviously be high? If all these things check out I tell them to tighten up (aka don't let me see it again) and I keep walking.

My thing is don't make me look like I'm not doing my job.

I always start tough saying no to everything. But as we are told it's easier to turn a no into a yes later rather than the other way around. Just be like hey man I talked to my supervisor and they said it was cool. Just wasn't sure so I wanted to ask them fisrt
