So what is the point of them lying to the cleaners about the world being shit? Why make them think everything is green?

Good show overall.

Same reason they rigged their suits so they die after a few minutes.

Cleaning as a punishment seems pretty dumb too tbh. Everyone already believes the world sucks. Watching people die outside isn't going to have any effect.

I don't think it was a punishment. afaik people had to voluntarily leave, they couldn't be forced.

Except when Jules was forced out bc the old dude lied about her saying she wanted to go out.... Which implied to me higher ups often did that bc they're all corrupt af and lie for no good reason bc there is literally no reason to lie about the world being green.

Well, they didn't really often do it, since there were only like what, 5 bodies out there before the series started? So perhaps they did, but only in extreme cases. But we saw 2 people who wanted to go out just in the first couple episodes.

I really enjoyed the show, but I found the first half to be boring sidequest shit, while the 2nd half really ramped it up. I care about the lore, not some old lady missing a cat. I'm curious if they'll address the water reservoir or giant door in season 2.
