"Super Mario Wonder" (without the "Bros.") rolls off the tongue much easier?

See also: Super Mario World, Super Mario 64, Super Mario Sunshine, Super Mario Galaxy, Super Mario Odyssey etc

I was gonna say it's probably because they consider "Super Mario Bros." to be the branding for 2D Mario but briefly forgot about World. Maybe that's just the outlier, though.

In Japan, the game is just called Super Mario Bros 4.

Nintendo of America just wanted a fresh title to go with the new console. No other reason.

"Super Mario Bros" indicates it's a 2D entry, since "Super Mario ____" tends to be 3D entries. Sunshine, Galaxy, Odyssey, etc., while the 2D games keep "Bros." World is the only outlier to this, but as stated above, it wasn't meant to be. NoA just kinda randomly did their own thing, there.

Also, "SMW" was taken.

Likewise, "Super Mario 3D" seems to be their naming convention for games that are 3D, but in the gameplay vein of 2D.

Super Mario Bros = 2D
Super Mario 3D = "2D in 3D"
Super Mario = 3D

More dimensions. Less name.

Mario.
