Iran is not going to go to war for the Palestinians. They use Israel's presence to rabblerouse their citizens just like Israel does with Iran, they aren't going to risk collapse by actually doing anything. If they can destabilize Israel a little bit by sending Hamas some weapons they're content.

Real question is if they stupidly attack a US ship and draw us in. Israel on its own can't really attack Iran, and Iran is content to stick w/ chicken shit tactics of pouring weapons to terrorists to do their dirty work for them.

They won't get directly involved and if they did, NATO would go kick their teeth down their throat so hard their unborn children would choke on said teeth.

Israel isn't a NATO member though so there's really no obligation to jump in.

No big players will get directly involved with either side unless absolutely "necessary". Funding a proxy war is much easier and more acceptable militarily, financially, and socially than putting boots on the ground.

Iran's government itself is not popular with the majority of its people. Going to war and having it go bad for them would be catastrophic for the ayatollah's regime.
