Title made me think the entire crowd walked out. Turns out it was just a handful who took umbridge with the fact he pointed out innocents have died in both sides.

He condemned Hamas terrorism as well.

People forget, most people aren't 100% right or 100% left. Lots of people are a mix. It's a spectrum. Chappelle isn't cozying up to anyone, just says his views.

For the first time in a long time Dave didn't say anything wrong, he's still a bigot when it comes to trans people tho and a simp for Musk so fuck him anyway

It's not even how you lean like how some online purists think. Where you have to be 100% right wing or 100% left wing.

Having a take that right wingers may like more doesn't mean a person overall leans right.
Same vice-versa. Saying something that the left may identify with more doesn't mean a person leans left.

I don't follow Chappelle so I can't comment on his overall views. But my point stands when it comes to those who are quick to label you a full on right winger the moment you disagree with their views no matter how slightly. Or vice versa.

You can agree with these people on most issues, but disagree with them on 1 or 3 issues out of 10, and they will swear on their life you support the opposite team, only "pretending" to agree with you on 7/10 issues.

I would probably walk out too regardless of who the comic was.

He wasn't even saying anything all that controversial. Still I think it's good to see Dave not towing the easy, lucrative, right wing line... as a black comedian he has a certain shelf life and limited role with that crowd anyway.

Of course. The right wing demands both groups (LGBTQ and Palestinians) be denigrated and dehumanized. Even implying that either group might be actual victims (as opposed to white, first world, conservative Christians) goes against the framing of their narratives.

there are good innocent people suffering because of this conflict, the palestinians. they were dragged into this conflict, hamas and israel might be fighting a war in which neither of them are good and I agree with tht, but there are good people suffering because of it and have been suffering because of it for many years. The good guys in this war are those forced to live in poverty and fear of dying every day because of it. Those forced to live a life most of us would call barely living.

The good guys are usually the civilians doing their best to limit suffering, possibly even helping ally and "enemy" alike. How it is most of the time. I was more speaking on those so intent on branding countries good or evil when most of the time both sides believe they are the greatest good, and everything be damned they will prove it with all the hate, fury, and blood they can. Just human nature at work. It's just depressing that in this year people still won't talk or acknowledge others because of grudges so old we can barely comprehend how the people back then thought.

Everyone is suffering and dying. Anyone doing war should get fucked.

Beyond that people need to just shut the fuck up about it imo cause the more people go off the clearer it is that nobody has any fuckin clue what theyre talking about

its more like screaming to someone that there is a killer in their house, and of course they think youre just being a prick or trying to scare them

It's not that bad.

Chappelle used to be the pinnacle of comedy. His comeback was awesome. We got like 4 or 6 comedy specials in the span of a couple years. But as the specials went on, you could see a drastic change in his style and stories. He went from being brutal to oppression to be brutal towards the oppressed, something he rarely did. You could hear the spite in his voice that certain people were getting more support than him. He became resentful and in doing so became unfunny. His comedic ability to engross you in a joke or story was no longer there, it just became hurtful and sad to hear him rag on already marginalized people because they got more attention about something than he wanted.

Yes Black people are still treated heinously, but that doesn't mean you need yo year down other groups because of it. Lift everyone up together. Make us all better.

Anyway, I didn't just lost respect for Dave those years ago, I simply stopped considering him the top of the profession. There's plenty of amazing comics out there and it seems like the industry just passed him by. We got our story of why he went crazy and fled to Africa, turned down a hundred million dollars, and isolated himself in a small town in Ohio. We looked to him after the George floyd murder, he gave us some mini specials in that time, and I'm thankful for that, but where he is now to me is just sorta irrelevant. Give me a mine birbiglia or John mulaney, who can grab you and sweep you up in their story.
