Man, as a recent business major graduate who had these consulting firms up our asses with marketing thanks to their donations, this video is gratifying. It was more Deloitte at my school but they're basically the same.

So much of the 'field' of business is just pretending to know what you're doing. And boy does business school prepare you to do that!

By the way, I can't think of a time I've heard the audience of LWT so repeatedly shocked and appalled. Though I don't catch every episode.

It's pretty ghoulish. Among other things, McKinsey had the literal same employees coaching Purdue Pharma on how to sell opioids, and also consulting for the FDA and persuading them of the safety of opioids.

Was just about to post this with a "Managing Consultants" addendum to let everyone know who McKinsey is, but honestly I don't think there's much one could do to sizzle the concept here in a topic title.

For those of you who don't know, McKinsey is literally one of the biggest and oldest firms still around in the US today. Their role is literally to be paid by companies to tell them how to manage. I honestly didn't know much about them, since despite being part of the corporate world, I'm a safety consultant, and really just at the "science and engineering" level, so I don't get too tangled with management.

But yeah, seems like despite being one of the most prestigious firms in existence, what McKinsey boils down to is a company of BS artists that companies hire to give them "advice" to make layoffs and increase executive pay.

Oh and they also get involved in major conflicts of interest with regards to regulatory groups and corporations (ie. managing both Purdue and the FDA at the same time, particularly around the Oxycontin scandal).

Oh and they've also got ties to foreign governments, such as the Saudi government. The same govt that killed Jamal Khashoggi.

Yeah this was a tough one to keep light-hearted, especially once the Purdue and Saudi stuff was dropping. o_o

It's like House Of Lies, but not funny.

I applied there, since the German branch is looking for STEM grads. Didn't get in.

Would I do it again? Probably. A stint there would be a great way to turbocharge your career

A company that has effectively made billions on the aspect of projecting the image of capability, over actual performance. In other words, "fake it 'till you make it" to possibly the most extreme instance.

So guessing they promote increase productivity by shrinking work force then causing remaining workforce to work twice as hard. Execs save money and rewarded with higher pay.
