While the list seems a tad overwhelming, honestly 18 and 26 are the only questionable ones to me. I've had plenty of successful coffee and drink dates/meet ups, but it's definitely location dependent. Otherwise, the rest of the list seems pretty reasonable, or each number has an argument against it.

Gym dates only work if the people are dating already but I dont see how a sporting event is out of the question for a 1st date it happens at colleges all the time

Nah, gym dates work if they're both really into fitness. I've seen people flirt at the gym and then decide to do a first or second date at the gym.

I want to make note, that this "list" is made by the chick who got pissed off at her date for taking her to the Cheesecake factory, which is why Cheesecake factory is number 1. She's a moron. Don't take her anywhere, leave her ass to grow old and alone (because cats won't adopt her).

In-N-Out or Five Guys would be a decent date choice for fast food.

The list is pretty useless without knowing how many women gave their answers for the list. For all we know it could have been 100 people polled, where just 3 women saying coffee date would be probably be enough to bump it up to 18 on the list.

I dunno? Most of those places on that list sound pretty good to me. I'm down for restaurants, a movie, or a walk. Those are traditional first date things for a reason.

I would say the church is a definite no-no. Who does that?

Also the hookah bar, night club and a sports event. I don't smoke, I can't drink or dance, and I'm not into sports. Other couples will enjoy those things. I don't like bowling or minature golf, but I'll go along with it.

Someone's house might be off the list until you got to know each other better, but I'm never been particularly cautious about that. Which is dumb on my part.

Really, it's just a list of places not to take women who consider themselves high maintenance. But I don't date those women, anyway. Bowling, for example, is a great first date to have an activity where you're physically and mentally engaged, but opens up opportunities for chatting, laughing, good-natured competitiveness, etc.

A fancy restaurant is really just for making your date feel pampered - which is perfectly fine, but if that's the basis of needs from which a relationship is to be formed, I feel like it's going to be pretty shallow.

I've seen those commonly suggested as the best first dates because they're low commitment dates where you can leave early if you're not feeling it.

I've always done dinner as a first date. None of them were upset about being taken to a chain restaurant lol

So one might be like don't take me to a sports event because they hate sports, but another might be into sports and would love that the most because they would have fun there even not on a date.

While I think a chain restaurant is a bad choice for dates, fancy restaurants aren't for first dates imho, unless they're something you already frequent. Any date who has an issue with the (good) local Mexican place that isn't related to food allergies isn't worth having.

I've had first dates that were exactly this sequence of events, and they were a few of the best. Any person who doesn't embrace ramen is, uh, not for Carl Carlson.

Just communicate with your date and do something you both find fun.

My first date with my wife was seeing Les Mis in London (and yes we had ice cream after, sorry list). Our next date was a night of air hockey and arcade games at Sega World after a very fancy dinner at Planet Hollywood. The only common thread for these two very different dates is that we agreed they would be fun. 25 years later we are still going on great dates.

And coffee is bad? It's the perfect place to take someone that works in your building or that you see in your daily orbit. It's low commitment, and if things go poorly there's no expectation. If it goes well there's been movies, actual dinners, and some ended up at my place or hers by the end of the night depending on proximity and number of drinks.

Larger point being, every woman is different and some people see dating as a way to make a connection and hopefully a relationship, and not just a transactional act with sexual expectations (though it's nice when that happens organically).

I feel like there are better things to do with this Cheesecake Factory meme. Ladies, do better.
