Over 4500 Gazans has their work permits revoked and were rounded up by the Israeli military into what sound like concentration camps. Some have been released, but 4500 are still unaccounted for.

The Minister of Labour for the Palestinian Authorities, Dr Nasri Abu Jaish, told The Independent around 4,500 workers were still unaccounted for but are believed to have been detained by Israeli forces. Dr Jaish said he had met workers after some of them were released, sharing stories of alleged mistreatment.

Theyre being tortured, Dr Jaish said. Theyre beaten and scarves are tied around their eyes so they dont know where they are. Many of them are sick and they dont give them medicine. They dont give them water or food. Theyre in open-air camps and arent allowed to speak to each other.

Were told one person was killed as he tried to fight a soldier. They broke one workers jaw, another one his leg, another one his hands. Ive met them in hospital.
...
One worker, a cleaner in his 60s who did not wish to be named over fears for his safety, told The Independent he had been blindfolded with his hands and feet tied.

When the cancellation of work permits was announced, he and coworkers made their way to checkpoints in the West Bank where he says hundreds were arrested. He says they were placed on buses to be taken to camps in undisclosed locations.

We were blindfolded and had our hands and feet tied, he says. I wanted to die. Ive been working here for years and always get tips. Ive never done anything wrong and Ive never been involved in anything political, he says. They kept calling us Hamas and terrorists. It was absolutely humiliating.

We were kept in a dark room with hundreds of others and especially those under 30 were beaten badly and questioned. The elderly and those with diabetes were refused medication, food or water.

Torture of PoWs is another unfortunate but inevitable reality of war. I'm curious as to the extent of torture though.

They're not POWs, they're illegally detained civilians.

It doesn't make a difference to the opposing nation, in this case Israel.

The sad part is that this is the lesser evil, as without the eyes of the world on them they would've just indiscriminately blown up all Palestinians to get the bad guys. This is still awful, but probably the most humane we'll see Israel in all of this.

Israel arrests Palestinians without charges and no trial. Dated 8/1 before the attack. The number being almost 4x afterwards looks to be on brand for Israel's human rights abuses.

JERUSALEM (AP) Israel is holding over 1,200 detainees nearly all of them Palestinians without charge or trial, the highest number in over three decades, an Israeli human rights group said Tuesday.
The detainees, 99% of whom are Palestinians, are held under Israels policy of administrative detention, without trial and under allegations that Israeli authorities keep secret.
The detentions can range from a few months to years and authorities often extend them for unknown reasons, according to Jessica Montell, the executive director of Hamoked, the rights group that published the figures.
The overall figure is outrageous, Montell said. This is a patently illegal practice. These people should be given a fair trial or released.

Israeli authorities can renew administrative detentions indefinitely. While detention orders are usually set for periods of three or six months, Montell said administrative detainees in Israel spend a year in detention on average.
Israel says the controversial tactic is necessary to contain dangerous militants and avoid divulging incriminating material for security reasons. But Palestinians and rights groups say the system denies due process and is widely abused.
The number of administrative detainees has more than doubled since early last year, when Israel began staging near-nightly arrest raids into Palestinian cities and towns following a series of Palestinian attacks. A quarter of all Palestinians under Israeli custody are now administrative detainees, according to Hamoked.

THey are also being rounded up and "dissapearing"

It's despicable that the world leaders remain silent on any and all of this inhumanity on Israel's Part.

Can you be treated well when you're detained in a camp against your will?
