Nerves can get to contestants on Wheel of Fortune, even when faced with solving a puzzle that not only has most of the letters filled out but also should be easy. Such was the case with the Monday, October 23 episode.

Contestant Izzy Santiago was a proud uncle who spoke about his nephews and nieces during his interview earlier. Host Pat Sajak then brought up his good memory. Izzy explained, My brain takes pictures of numbers and letters, and it just remembers it. Sajak asked if that photographic memory was helpful in school, and Izzy confirmed it was though also noted that it could be a curse sometimes as well.

Things took a turn for Izzy for a puzzle in the category Fun & Games. He landed on the $1 million wedge and already had $2250 that round. He was right when he chose an F, resulting in the board reading, _RA_I_G _AME_ FROM A HAT. Izzy then elected to solve, but wrongly guessed DRAWING GAMES FROM A HAT. The next contestant, Frankie Theodore, correctly solved the puzzle without spinning: DRAWING NAMES FROM A HAT.

Sajak tried to offer an explanation for Izzys miss. You know, in addition to the regular nervousness you get up here, now heres a million dollars, and all this stuff, and what am I doing? he suggested. Izzy admitted to the nerves he was feeling in that moment. Things like that happen, Sajak acknowledged.

At the end of the regular gameplay, Izzy came in second place, with $13,550 to Frankies 15,270 (which included the trip she won by solving the aforementioned puzzle).

But if he had guessed that puzzle correctly, and the rest of the game had played out as it had, he could have been the one to head to the bonus round perhaps with the $1 million envelope in play.

First glance I thought "Trading names from a hat."

The guy who solved the puzzle without spinning better have had a crapton of money, a prize on hand, or a Prize Puzzle round. It irritates the hell out of me when people solve with no money, don't bother spinning, and it's not a Prize Puzzle round. But at the same time, they could be playing smart by not letting the guy who's next win the money/prizes they may have if you land on bankrupt or lose a turn.

I'll probably never end up a contestant, but I'd play it this way if I were ever on it.

NGL, I struggle with some of these word (letter?) puzzles too. I'm great with other puzzles like Sudoku, but Wheel of Fortune puzzles often stump me.

This. I suck at Wheel of Fortune in general, though.

Misleading topic title. Yeah he got it wrong but if he had gotten it right it wouldn't have been as if he won 1,000,000... you still have to land on the million when you do the final spin in the bonus round and also get the last puzzle correct.

This. I assumed it was the final puzzle and couldnt get it because N and S would have already been filled in

The last million dollar winner was Melissa Joan Hart on one of the Celebrity episodes.

I couldn't guess it, but that's because drawing names from a hat is something I've pretty much never taken part of.

The T was already used for hat. So first blank letter can't be T.

Games? Ouch.

I didn't immediately get it. I could have if I stared it for a lot longer than the bonus round is, but I didn't get it that time.

Only easy in the sense so many letters are uncovered, it's not nearly as obvious as armchair experts seem to think. They have like six seconds to get it.

They still have to go through the whole process of keeping the million wedge all the way to the bonus round and hitting it on the prize wheel.

"Trading games from a hat" I thought, well that doesn't make any sense why would anyone trade games from a hat. Dude probably went down the same mental hole thinking this game is stupid, I really just want the money now and go home.

They get much bigger prizes too iirc, in the bonus rounds.. and a more stacked wheel. I've seen a few celebrities win the million prize, like at least two in one season I wanna say, and just in the few episodes I watched of it. Whatever was on Hulu a few months back.

It's not that surprising though, I imagine since all the money in celebrity goes to charity it's a tax write off.

Lol, Kel was actually in one not too long ago. That was the first time I'd seen him in anything since... Keenan and Kel.
