While Maine does not have a red flag law, it does have a more limited yellow-flag law that would still allow police to petition a judge to take a persons firearms away if a medical practitioner deems that person to be a threat.

So, in your own words, if somebody checks themselves in to therapy, admitting that they have thoughts about killing people, they should NOT be studied further, to see why they did so, and to potentially limit their gun usage, based on the findings?
