Well a lot of Internet nerds peaked with 2010s Internet. It is always hilarious how so many people on the Internet keeps talking the best times of their internet lives was some form of old school Internet. To me, it's similar to the people who keeps talking about the best times of their lives were in high school. Nostalgia always brings out the pessimistic in us. Am I the only one thinking "the best has yet to come"?

The internet was weird back then, and full of people trying out this new thing. It was relatively rudderless and directionless. You could spend hours just searching and seeing what you could find. Now it's all homogenized and commercialized. You go to 4 or maybe 5 websites. That's it.

I dunno about that. Modern internet is much more corporate and filled with ads.

The internet today is objectively worse than 15 years ago. Technology is better but user interactivity is being phased out and now we basically just have cable tv replicated.

The internet is in the "find out stage" after all the fucking around. All the nice, free, functional stuff we had back then got worse by design, as the plan was always to build massive market share, and then monetize or sell to the highest bidder.
