After the cashier rang it up I found a $5 in my pocket. "Can I pay with the $5, and you just give me $15 less in change?" "No, that might make my drawer over or under or something because it's already telling me to give you $16.33" she says, handing me 3 $5's, a $1, and some coins. "That's fine. If I give you 4 $5's, can you give me a $20?" "Sure" I hand back the 3 $5's she just gave me, give her the $5 from my pocket, and she gives back the $20 I just gave her. tyder21 10/30/23 11:29:27 PM #2:	As someone who is good at math and was once a cashier in high school, I really hated when a customer tried to switch things up on me after I already punched in the total. There was something about this type of situation that really froze my mind, especially since there's added pressure to not be scammed. It's much better from their perspective to do this in two entirely separate transactions. Suprak_the_Stud 10/30/23 11:33:57 PM #4:	Yeah, I worked as a cashier in high school and there are so many people that try to scam you at the register that if someone tried to do anything with money, I would assume it was a scam, play dumb, and call over the manager on duty if they needed something with the money. 9 times out of 10 they just leave. --- Moops? azuarc 10/31/23 9:32:26 AM #9:	Having never worked as a cashier or been exposed to these sorts of scams, but being someone who is very inclined toward math, I would have absolutely done what Neato did and probably been annoyed at the failings of someone who can't do something obvious and logical. It's not really funny or surprising that someone isn't able to do a basic logic puzzle. And people are likely less inclined to engage that while working a minimum wage gas station job.
