Well I did get a full 3 weeks off paid for a false positive so that was nice. That was also before my discs in my back were ruptured and bulged in the riot at my job so theres that. So yes I guess.
Are you a bull?

The work flexibility was great, but being stuck at home alone (2020) or just with my cat (2021 onwards) was pure hell mentally. I didn't really spend time exploring any hobbies or whatnot but I did discover that drinking alone was a super slippery slope so I stopped doing that after slowly going through my remaining beer stash like once a week and only drink socially now. So I don't really miss anything from the lockdown era

Yes and no. I'm a janitor in a hospital, so going into work sucked all the dicks in the world.

Being at home with my wife and not having to leave the house was very nice. We saved a bunch of money and went on a killer vacation to Portugal after everything was lifted.

It was also interesting to walk the streets and take public transportation every day and see next to no humans at all. However, a lot of the homeless population of Montreal congregated to the metros during the cold months, so constantly being harassed was less than fun.

Working fully remote was pretty awesome, and I really liked not getting cold/flu thanks to masks and less exposure to other people.

My wife and I were very fortunate in that we both kept gainful employment during lockdowns, I even changed jobs to a way better one mid lockdown

It was a mix for me.

I enjoyed riding out the unemployment, finding projects around the house, keeping the house cleaner, we had my aunt-in-law that I really like staying with us. Loads of gaming and fun.

But wife works in radiology, chest x-rays were the bulk of pre-screening efforts so she was frontline af (and not even mentioned alongside nurses). And keeping a newly diagnosed ADHD teenager on focus for distance learning was brural.

We had like 2 weeks of lockdown in 2020 then went back to mostly normal. Wore a mask when I had to but coached tee-ball and other sports and did large group stuff.

So I guess, no. Lockdowns are terrible for mental health.

That's not true at all. Do you think people who lived back then don't (or didn't) have any nostalgia for life during the Great Depression?

Nostalgia doesn't necessarily come from better or even good times. Really it comes from different times.

No one is stopping you from being a shut-in recluse if that's the life you want to live so badly. I'm an introvert too but it's fucking shitty to wish everyone else be locked up and confined just because you can't function like a normal human adult in society.

Nobody is wishing that.

Emotionally well adjusted adults are capable of having fond memories of their personal experiences with a situation AND recognize that it wasn't good for everyone.

6 months? I only got one and a half. While nostalgic isn't the word I'd use, it was a much needed vacation from a job that didn't provide any vacation time. It also made me realize that my job at the time paid me way too little. It also made me realize that a zombie apocalypse could very well happen, because it turns out that people really are just as stupid as the movies portrayed them to be.

I was working at a grocery store at the time as an eSsEnTiAL hErO (meanwhile people got to sit on their asses at home not working making more money than I was- Ill never not be bitter about that) so honestly nothing changed for me. I did like there being fewer people on the road though for a bit.
Tell me about it. And I also knew the "hero" tag would go away rather quickly and our treatment would get even worse than before the pandemic.

I enjoyed the brief moment when people were being smart, staying home or masking up.
It probably did a number on my relationship cause that's now over.
My job bites kinda more than ever cause people showed their true colors on who they actually care about. "We care about all of our employees (some more than others)"

I still had to commute to my essential worker job. I feel bad for the young kids who had to stay home and do remote learning, they missed in person socialization with their peers.

Got laid off for 3 months and it was fantastic. Made less money but it was like being retired. I fucking loved it.

I worked out for 5 hours a day and only spent time with like 3 other people. It was heaven!
