Just played Wario Land 3 on Switch, I know very little about this series so I'm curious what the consensus is on the games. I've enjoyed 3 well enough, though it's a little constraining with how linear the progression is. The invincibility thing sometimes becomes more annoying than a simple life system would be, as a single hit can throw you back a minute or so >_>

15 years since a Wario platformer, will he ever get another?

Shake It! then Wario Land II for me. Shake it is maybe one of my favorite Nintendo platformers in general and WLII is just a classic.

Wario Land 1 was a little too basic
VB I've only played a little bit of and it was good, but never got around to playing the whole thing
Wario Land 3 was fine, but not as good as 2
Wario Land 4 I don't know like a lot of people like this, but something about the game was off putting to me. Another one I thought was just fine
Wario World was a rental and I barely remember it
Master of Disguise no

WL2 and WL3 were the last ones I played of the original 4, but still my favorites. I like the puzzle-y gameplay of those two. Voted 3, since it sticks more in my memory of the two.

Haven't played World, Master of Disguise, or the Virtual Boy one.

3 or 4 is the best. Tough to call right now.

I dunno about best, but 3 is pretty easily the worst out of what I've played (haven't played Master of Disguise).

2 is one of the most unique, innovative, and interestingly-designed games ever made. I wish that every person who plays video games would play Wario Land 2.

3 is very high quality although certain aspects of it made me not like it as much as 2 when it came out. If it were a new game releasing today I would almost certain like it more. But unfortunately my perspective is tainted because it came out when I was like 11 and huge on WL2 at the time. I always feel guilty that I don't like it as much as I should, but I've been unable to change my opinion on it.

4 is a game that transcends the Wario franchise and should appeal to all people who like platformers. If this game came out on SNES in the early 90s it would be remembered today in the same vein as SMW, Yoshi's Island, DKC, etc. It is a top tier platformer, no more qualifiers needed. It's also the most "removed" from the Wario series so you really don't need to play any other games on this list in order to enjoy playing WL4.

Shake It, while similar to a watered down WL4 in terms of raw gameplay, is my pick for the best looking 2D game of all time. In an alternate reality when the 3D revolution never happened in the mid 90s, every video game ever made in the last 30 years would all look like this.

VB is kind of interesting to revisit if you've already played both 1 and 2 because you can see how technologically it's right between the two. It has elements of 1 returning and it has elements similar to 2 which you find actually originated in this game first. The game itself is just a slightly more advanced version of 1.

1 is a fine game, especially considering the context in which it was released (a Mario sequel where you literally play as the former villain instead of Mario at all), but it's the worst game in the series just by default. It's too archaic and lacks defining features that make any of the later games what they are.

Damn I kind of want to bust out my Wii and replay Shake It now

I've only played that and SML 3 so I didn't vote. SML 3 is alright; Shake It was great

Wow HDT that is also very high praise for 2 and 4! I assume both will wind up on Switch (why did they open with 3 I wonder), though Shake it is likely trapped on the Wii.

It was one of the few Wii games that was available on the Wii U eShop. So they're definitely open to porting it if a new avenue opens for it.

Oh, that's cool! It's an option then, though it doesn't look like they've any plans to reignite non-WarioWare Wario. Even if they don't, Wii games are normally pretty cheap so I might pick it up sometime.
